Job Description Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented bilingual Referral Coordinator to join our team. As a Referral Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient coordination of patient referrals within our medical offices. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in managed care or a medical office setting.
Essential Job Functions/ Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate patient referrals from start to finish in a timely manner;
- Obtain necessary authorizations and insurance verifications for referrals;
- Communicate using professional interpersonal skills through verbal and non-verbal communications with patients, providers, and insurance companies;
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date referral records in electronic medical records system;
- Collaborate with medical staff to ensure timely and appropriate referrals;
- Assist with scheduling appointments for referred patients;
- Update patient records, including scanning documents and entering detailed notes in electronic and paper records;
- Provide administrative support to the medical office as needed;
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bilingual in Spanish is required;
- Minimum requirement of 2-year previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in managed care, or medical office;
- Strong knowledge of managed care processes and procedures;
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10, and ICD-9 coding;
- Familiarity with insurance verification processes;
- Proficient in using electronic medical records systems;
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills;
- Working knowledge of Medicaid/Medicare, insurance verification, and Referral processing;
- High School Diploma or equivalent;
- Complete and pass required trainings included but not limited to HIPAA, C.A. Sexual Harassment, and Gender Pronoun usage throughout duration of employment.
Required Skills
Proficiency in office software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office and Excel, electronic medical record systems);
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively;
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
