The Sr. Quality Control Underwriter is responsible for auditing Non QM, Non-Agency, DSCR, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, and USDA loans by reviewing credit, capacity, compliance, and collateral characteristics of the loan file to ensure they meet investor quality standards.

The Sr. Quality Control Underwriter is responsible for auditing Non QM, Non-Agency, DSCR, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, and USDA loans by reviewing credit, capacity, compliance, and collateral characteristics of the loan file to ensure they meet investor quality standards.
Responsibilities May Include, But Not Limited To
- Perform a pre-funding or post-funding quality control review of loans from the Retail and Correspondent divisions
- Participate in the remediation of identified defects with Operations
- Communicate identified defects effectively to internal and external counter parties
- Assist in developing QC audit and project plans
- Act as a resource and subject matter expert for questions regarding Quality Control
- Analyze calculations and verifications of income & assets, and evaluations of credit reports, purchase contracts, appraisals, title commitments, and other loan pertinent documentation
- Audit a minimum of 6 files per day relating to credit, collateral, capacity, and compliance AND maintain a 95% or higher rate of accuracy
- Stay current on all agency, state, and federal guidelines, and participate in on-going training as industry evolves
- Work well with others including mentoring new hires
- Manage time efficiently and prioritize workloads to meet strict deadlines while handling multiple tasks
- May schedule closing date and time with borrowers, LO’s and title companies
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
- Demonstrated understanding of mortgage lending operations and industry, specifically how it relates to Quality Control
- Knowledge of Non QM, Non-Agency, DSCR, FNMA, FHLMC, FHA and VA guidelines and Federal regulatory guidelines and procedures, TRID knowledge
- Basic knowledge of fraud detection
- Minimum 5 years of recent experience in conventional and government underwriting and/or Quality Assurance experience within the mortgage banking industry
- FHA Direct Endorsement/ VA SAR Certifications
- Experience in quality assurance services in a multiple client environment preferred
- Strong familiarity with the total closing function: underwriting condition to closing, closing instructions, closing procedures, and TRID
- Working knowledge of AUS systems, including Loan Prospector and Desktop Underwriter
- Experience with Encompass
- At least an Intermediate level user of Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on Word and Excel
- Strong written communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workloads
- College Degree or equivalent work-related experience, and High School Diploma or equivalency
