Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Cafe Instructor
Leadership & Communication
- Maintains accurate and timely communication (written, electronic, and verbal) with the Training Director and Cafe staff.
- Collaborates with the Training Director and Placement Coordinators to track training and employment readiness of Baristas.
- Serves as a liaison between Cakeable and the community to promote the skills and value of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).
Cafe Operations & Customer Service
- Oversees the production and serving of drinks, ensuring quality and consistency.
- Supervises entry and transactions through the Square POS system, including end-of-day reporting.
- Supports opening and closing duties of the cafe.
- Ensures adherence to Cakeable’s sanitation, food safety, and general safety rules.
- Maintains overall cleanliness of the cafe, including dishes, windows, trash, floors, and bathrooms.
- Monitors the safety and well-being of Baristas.
Inventory & Vendor Coordination
- Maintains inventory of all supplies and ingredients and notifies the Training Director when orders need to be placed.
- Oversees bakery and cafe orders, ensuring timely fulfillment and quality standards.
- Coordinates with vendors to maintain supply chain efficiency.
- Updates and maintains menu boards to reflect current offerings, seasonal items, and promotions.
- Develops and implements seasonal items in collaboration with the team.
Training & Development
- Facilitates increased competence and independence for Baristas in their tasks.
- Trains and supports Baristas and Cashiers with varying skill levels and communication styles.
- Collaborates with the Training Director to develop, implement, and update cafe program policies, procedures, and training aids.
Equipment & Maintenance
- Reports all equipment breakdowns to the Training Director.
- Ensures proper use and maintenance of all cafe equipment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 per hour
