Definition and Purpose
Under the supervision of the Coordinator I - Facility Operations (Recreation Center) the Facility Supervisor (Recreation Center) is responsible for the safe and smooth operation of the facilities and programs. The Facility Supervisor has the responsibility of ensuring that ASI facilities are operationally safe. The Facility Supervisor is the first responder for injuries, the leader in case of an emergency, and provides on-site supervision of student staff. In the absence of full-time staff or a Student Manager, the Facility Supervisor has managerial responsibility and general oversight of ASI programs in the Recreation Center, Sports Complex, and Doerr Family Field. The Facility Supervisor is expected to practice sound judgment and make good decisions in representing ASI.

Requirements
Educational Requirements and Qualifying Experience
- Must be a currently enrolled student at Cal Poly with a minimum of 6 units. Graduate students must carry 4 units.
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Facility security experience preferred
- Possesses excellent organizational and planning skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Maintain First Aid, CPR and AED Certification.
- Must hold a CA Driver's License with a driving record acceptable to ASI's insurance underwriters.
- Ability to work with diverse populations and those with special limitations or needs.
- Experience with program participation preferred Recreation Center.
- Experience with administration, supervision, advising or public relations.
- General knowledge of program services of the Recreation Center.
- Experience in leadership or management.
- Program specific experience preferred.
- Direct the evacuation of the Recreation Center, Sports Complex, and Doerr Family Field during emergencies
- Maintain a calm and focused demeanor to instill confidence in participants and staff while efficiently and professionally managing emergencies
- Respond to first aid situations with confidence, addressing both minor injuries and life-threatening situations effectively
- Document all injuries and incidents at ASI facilities with accuracy and thoroughness
- Contact University Police when on-site personnel are unable to resolve problems
- Identify and address safety issues or concerns, ensuring timely resolution and reporting
- Supervise ASI programs and events to safeguard the well-being of staff and participants
- Provide general oversight of Membership Services Student Assistants, Pro Shop Student Assistants, Intramural Sports student staff, and Lifeguards
- Provide management authority and student staff supervision in the absence of full-time staff members
- Supervise program participants' behavior, and appropriately intervene when needed
- Maintain a positive relationship with staff and co-workers
- Demonstrate awareness of and appreciation for individual uniqueness and diversity
- Adhere to and enforce all ASI departmental policies and procedures
- Commitment to student development and leadership
- Oversee daily operations of the Recreation Center, Sports Complex, and Doerr Family Field while understanding and adhering to their unique policies and procedures, educating participants and staff on these guidelines, and effectively explaining both the policies and the rationale behind them.
- Open, close, and secure facilities at prescribed times and inspect facility for safety and maintenance concerns
- Provide breaks for student staff members, serve as a backup for staff members who cannot attend work, and use the phone lists to cover for no-show employees
- Compile daily user statistics, facility reports, and document all injuries and incidents
- Communicate with Facilities staff for maintenance and custodial concerns
- Monitor event use. Understand crowd control, and have the ability to recognize potential event problems before they occur
- Make regular rounds in supervising ASI's facilities to ensure that activities are being conducted safely and appropriately
- Set up and take down special equipment (e.g. volleyball nets, wallyball, audio visual equipment, etc.) at the Recreation Center, Sports Complex, and Doerr Family Field
- Provide inventory control for the storage rooms
- Act as an ASI representative at all times with an extensive knowledge of ASI and University programs, facilities and services
- Assist other ASI staff areas with the preparation and operation of their program area as needed
- Provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for all staff and participants
- Provide quality customer service for all staff and customers
- Attend at least two hours of safety and evacuation training per quarter for the Recreation Center
- Ability to receive constructive criticism and learn from incidents to ensure continual development
- Attend all mandatory meetings, trainings, workshops, and retreats
- Staff are required to work a minimum of 1 shift per week at The Cal Poly Recreation Center during the academic year.
- Recommend and support practices intended to eliminate racial, gender, or any other form of bias in processes, policies, and procedures.
- Demonstrate awareness of one's own biases, comfort levels, and various aspects of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
- Demonstrate effort to understand each person's individual and collective role in creating inclusive environments.
- Participate in trainings and activities provided by ASI as it relates to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- The person holding this position is considered a "mandated reporter" under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in ASI policy as a condition of their employment.

- Hourly Pay Rate: $17.00 per hour
- Hourly Pay Range: $17.00 per hour - $17.00 per hour
- Maximum 20 hours per week. Early morning, night, and weekend hours required.
May require late nights, weekends, and holidays
