ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
SUMMARY: Cal Poly Pomona Foundation is hiring part-time Graduate Plant Science students for an agrivoltaics research study at Spadra Research Farm under Dr. Eshwar Ravishankar.
SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):
Graduate research technicians will support the study of romaine lettuce growth under solar panels, focusing on soil conditions, water efficiency, and crop development. Responsibilities include harvesting for data collection, soil microbiology sampling, plant tissue analysis, and various crop measurements. Technicians will work closely with supervisors and promptly report any issues.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a current Graduate Plant Science student at Cal Poly Pomona.
- Prior experience in agriculture, horticulture, or field research is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work outdoors in various conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow research protocols.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work well with various people including students, faculty, staff, and high-level administrators.
- Motivated, innovative, and shows initiative.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
ABOUT US: As the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Foundation offers valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year.
