ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY

SUMMARY: We are seeking a dynamic and organized temporary, part-time Exhibition Coordinator to liaise with the college planning team, the exhibition set designer, and department faculty liaisons to plan and implement the college’s exhibition space for the month-long LA County Fair event in May.  Each role will also oversee university student employees that will be assisting with exhibit fabrication and installation, as well as working on the exhibits during the fair.  This role is pivotal in ensuring the realization of the exhibit and smooth daily operations during the fair, including the scheduling and direct supervision of student employees.

Since 2022, the Huntley College of Agriculture has supported the annual LA County Fair with exhibits that showcase the programs and work of the Huntley College of Agriculture.  Our displays are staffed by our students, faculty and staff and have been very well received by guests at the fair.  We are seeking to hire two individuals to help with the planning and coordination of our fair activities.

POSITION SUMMARY:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with the college planning team, the exhibition set designer and faculty liaisons to realize and install the exhibit at the LA County Fairground.
• Facilitate communications between the college planning team, exhibit designer, faculty liaisons and student employees.
• Develop and manage work schedules for student employees and volunteers to ensure adequate coverage for the department exhibits.
• Supervise, support, and provide guidance to student employees and volunteers during exhibit hours.
• Coordinate daily operations of university exhibits, ensuring they meet established standards.
• Liaise with visitors to ensure guest experiences meet expectations and any issues are resolved.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for student staff, addressing any issues promptly.

• Ensure compliance with CPP Foundation policies and regulations.

• Provide leadership for the exhibit installation and breakdown processes.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Previous supervisory experience, preferably in an event or educational setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage schedules and resolve conflicts effectively.
• Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and evenings, as required by the fair schedule.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience working with college students.
• Background in event management or public engagement.
• Familiar with the policies and procedures of Cal Poly Pomona and the CPP Foundation Enterprise.
• Knowledge of the Huntley College of Agriculture and its constituent degree programs.

EMPOLYMENT DETAILS:

• Position Type: Temporary, Part-Time, Flexible
• Duration: March 17^th – May 30^th
• Hours: 220 hours total:
  • 10 hours per week (planning) March 17th – April 25^th
  • 32 hours per week (implementation) April 28^th- May 30^th
• Location: CPP Campus and LA County Fairgrounds
• Compensation: $30/hour
