ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
SUMMARY: Currently searching for three Part-Time Crew Member Leads, under regular supervision the lead is responsible for the oversight or delegation of responsibilities within the dining services operation such as inventory, customer service, food preparation, and food safety and sanitation procedures. Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary by location based on requirements and business needs.
ABOUT US: As the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Enterprises offers valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year. The Enterprises offers positions in various fields; whether it is in the area of technology, science, retail, culinary arts, hospitality1500 management, leadership or research grants, these student employees participate in Cal Poly Pomona's learn-by-doing philosophy and acquire practical skills in their designated field of study.
The Enterprises also contributes operating support to nearly 1,100 Enterprises and scholarship programs every year, including Bronco Athletics and the Pepsi Scholarship. In addition, the Enterprises administers grants and contracts, contributes to campus security, and supports several university publications. The Enterprises contributes over $1 million annually to Cal Poly Pomona.
SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):
- Schedules and assigns daily work assignments to a food service team and oversees the completion of tasks
- Trains and guides staff on job duties, proper food safety and sanitation procedures, customer service, etc.
- Prepares and builds food items according to standardized recipes and directions
- Properly stores food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
- Sets up work stations including prep tables, service counters, etc.
- Breaks down, cleans, and sanitizes work stations
- Serves food to customers while ensuring guest satisfaction and anticipating the customers’ needs
- Replenishes food items and ensure product is stocked to appropriate levels
- Maintains excellent customer service and positive attitude towards guest, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.
- Adheres to safety policies and procedures including proper food safety and sanitation
- Must be able to work a regular work schedule to include evenings and weekends.
- Performs other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous lead and/or supervisory experience in a related role preferred
- Satisfactory completion of training program(s)
- 6 months to one-year food service experience required
- Must have or be able to obtain food safety certification
- Understands all aspects of the job and responsibilities
- Must be able to work independently with limited supervision and lead others
- Demonstrates excellent customer service skills

The employee frequently is required to handle food, trays, utensils and other catering items. Individual must be able to observe details at close and within 20 feet.
WORK CONDITIONS AND HAZARDS
Work is regularly performed in a traditional kitchen setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
