ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
SUMMARY: The Student Greenhouse Technician Assistants will work in a dynamic, production-based greenhouse facility. Under the Ornamental Horticulture and Greenhouse Manager’s direction, the student will perform work involving vegetable and herb transplants, research projects, Controlled Environment Agriculture, foliage and fruit tree production, and retail nursery sales and ecommerce sales. Cal Poly Pomona Enterprises is currently seeking to hire three Student Greenhouse Technician Assistants.
SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):
· Work may include propagation, transplanting, weeding, culling, trimming, irrigation, soil mixing, harvesting, operating equipment, landscape maintenance, greenhouse maintenance, stocking, labeling, inventory control, order fulfillment, customer service, marketing, and retail sales.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Currently enrolled as a full-time student in Plant Science or a related field (undergraduate or graduate level)
· Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
· Ability to work independently and take initiative
· Enthusiastic, dependable, and motivated to learn
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Customer Service experience preferred.
· Prior experience in horticulture, landscaping or agriculture is preferred but not required.
