Responsibilities

  • Develop and own the annual Continuous Improvement Plan. Collaborate with facility leadership, senior management and employees to develop and publish it within 30 days of hire. Track progress and update as required.
  • Define annual goals and benchmarks (KPIs – Key Performance Indicators) for each target area.
  • Evaluate and assess processes at each operation’s function from the standpoint of continuous improvement.
  • Identify and report issues or non-conformances and drive resolutions and improvements
  • Provide expertise, strategic guidance and support to department leaders
  • Manage a continuous improvement budget and collaborate with other divisions of the company to implement comprehensive measures to ensure continuous improvement practices
  • Identify areas where business processes lack efficient environmental consciousness Setup a framework for responding to continuous improvement demands
  • Report environmental impact issues and suggest possible solutions or improvements
  • Identify opportunities to drive out waste and improve profitability and process efficiency within 60 days of hire. Continued identification of opportunities should continue and be added to the Continuous Improvement Plan.
  • Develop and integrate continuous improvement packaging initiatives
  • Determine opportunities to increase revenue by recycling plastic, glass, paper and other items within 90 days. These initiatives should also include decreasing the cost of packaging materials used in production, increasing the revenue for recycling cardboard and increasing the revenue for recycling of metals.
  • Take the lead in analyzing the need for new process development to meet company needs.
  • Develop relevant training and coaching to ensure employees are properly educated regarding waste reduction, process improvements and cost reduction.
  • Assess and develop meaningful donation campaigns that positively impact our community
  • Collaborate with Accounting Department to ensure improvements are being tracked, monitored and achieving financial improvements stated in original scope of projects
  • Collaborate with Director of Marketing to ensure that the initiatives and values the company is pursuing through the activities of this role are portrayed accurately and projected consistently to communicate who we are as an organization, to our employees, our dealers, suppliers, and the community
  • Recommend, support, and implement improvements, modifications, or additions that will improve work processes.
  • Build rapport quickly and interact with people of all levels in the organization
  • Understand, cultivate, and improve the plant CI culture. Using a process focus, facilitate the leadership team to establish/improve leader standard work, visual controls, and standard accountability processes. Ensure innovation programs are effective.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of process/continuous improvement tools, methodologies and practices
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis
  • Ability to work across multiple departments to meet an overall goal
  • Strong analytical skills – the ability to analyze, track, and report quantitative data, including proficiency in data wrangling, exploration and effective visualization
  • Technical knowledge of mechanics
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and execute multiple projects on time, thrive in a fast-paced environment, be a self-starter and team collaborator
  • Ability to work in a hands-on, fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively throughout the plant and across the organization, such as with Sales and Customer Service
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed
  • Ability to identify areas of opportunity and provide creative solutions that will benefit the facility
  • Computer skills in MS Windows environment; proficient in Word, and Excel
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Technology or related field

Experience:

Minimum of five (5) years’ leadership or engineering experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
Minimum two (2) years’ Continuous Improvement experience

Experience working on process improvement projects

Experience working with ISO14001 – Environmental Management Standards
