Department: Office of Equity and Inclusion (OEI)

Classification Title: Administrative Support Coordinator I

Classification Salary Range: $3,864 - $6,072 per month.

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $3,800 - $4,450 per month.

The final salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience.

About the Department/Position:

The CSUDH Office of Equity & Inclusion (OEI) supports a campus climate that embraces and uplifts equity, inclusion, and justice. OEI also champions inclusive excellence and equal access to education and employment for students, staff, and faculty. In line with this mission, OEI is dedicated to providing education and support, offering a variety of training and materials to prevent bias and promote safety and equity at CSUDH.

Under the general direction of the Executive Director of the Office of Equity and Inclusion (OEI), the Office Coordinator will provide a variety of administrative support that enables OEI to fully realize its mission to receive, respond to, and resolve all matters, concerns, and allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, including those generally known as Title IX. This will include but is not limited to, managing case files, identifying and scheduling educational and preventative programming opportunities for OEI, updating the OEI website, directing inquiries to appropriate OEI staff, and other general office administrative tasks.

Overview of Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide administrative support for the Office of Equity and Inclusion (OEI) by keeping accurate records of matters that come to OEI and tracking the disposition of those matters.
  • Track and ensure compliance with mandated OEI education training.
  • Find and coordinate opportunities for OEI to provide educational and preventative programming on campus.
  • Coordinating the scheduling for OEI professional staff and events
  • Processing professional development and travel requests.
  • Lead the effort to keep the OEI website updated.
  • Serve as the primary contact of OEI for those uncertain about whom to speak to, by greeting in-person visitors to the OEI Office, and answering the general OEI email account and phone number.
  • Actively work at building a rapport with campus partners to expedite work and projects, and engage with the public during OEI outreach events
  • Lead the work of student employees.
  • Coordinate student employee training of front desk office procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education: Completion of a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents.
  • Experience: Three (3) years of related office work experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Thorough knowledge of office methods, procedures, and practices
  • Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling
  • Ability to use standard office equipment
  • Ability to use standard word processing and related computer software packages
  • Ability to identify and solve standard problems and refer more complex problems to appropriate staff
  • Ability to respond to routine inquiries and explain standard policies and procedures to others
  • Ability to learn, interpret independently, and apply a variety of complex policies and procedures
  • Ability to identify deviations from applicable policies
  • Ability to apply independent judgment, discretion, and initiative to address problems and develop practical, thorough and, at times, creative solutions
  • Ability to perform standard arithmetic functions of a transactional nature, including tracking and comparing data
  • Fundamental writing and presentation skills to effectively communicate standard information
  • Skilled in effective interpersonal skills
  • Skilled in professionalism in dealing with sensitive and highly confidential issues
  • Demonstrated competence in effectively presenting standard information in writing
  • Demonstrated competence in understanding, interpreting, and communicating procedures, policies, information, ideas, and instructions
  • Demonstrated competence in working with and meeting the needs of a diverse - race, academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ability, caste, gender identity, sexual orientation - community of people
