Summary:
The Senior Compliance Associate is responsible for assisting in the administration of the Compliance Program for each of the regulated Calamos entities. Included is internal control testing, review of the firm’s policies and procedures as well as providing general compliance support to the businesses.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Contributes to the implementation and testing of Compliance policies and procedures.
- Proactively reviews business activities to identify potential regulatory, compliance and reputational risks.
- Performs various surveillance reviews of trading activity, such as employee pre-clearance requests and front-running analyses. Responsible for answering trade related questions for employees.
- Assists with Compliance training and onboarding activities for all new employees and interns.
- Responsible for conducting due diligence for employee activities such as Brokerage Accounts, Outside Business Activities, Private Investments, Political donations, etc.
- Performs various FINRA filing requirements for registered employees. Provide due diligence on incoming registered representatives to HR and Compliance to aid in hiring. In coordination with CCO and Sales Management, determine FINRA license necessary for specific roles across the organization. Monitor licensed individuals throughout the organization in order to understand and make U4/U5 updates when necessary. Communicate program guidelines and ensure representatives maintain their licenses by taking the required continuing education.
- Contributes to the coordination of periodic and ad hoc regulatory filings, such as 13F, 13H, Form BD/BR, Form PF and Form ADV.
- Assists with reviewing marketing and sales literature to ensure compliance with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and Securities Exchange Commission requirements, as well as Global Investment Performance Standards and firm policies and procedures.
- Provides regulatory and compliance advice to business and control units on an ongoing basis. Assists in training staff in compliance with regulations as needed.
- Assists with compliance audits of outside sales professionals and branch office locations.
- Proactively participate in creating new/additional policies and procedures in support of new business. This also includes identifying conflicts of interest and determining appropriate controls to mitigate risk and conflicts of interest.
- Responsible for performing due diligence for new selling group agreements for funds or UCITS.
- Assist in the review and drafting of RFPs, questionnaires, and other standardized responses.
- Provide support and back-up duties for Charles River Investment Guideline Monitoring.
- Perform email review for registered representatives and advisors.
- Performs special projects and other duties, as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum 5 years compliance experience required (with investment advisor act experience preferred).
- Series 7 and 24 licenses required or will obtain in a reasonable timeframe.
- Must have strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational and follow-through skills.
- Team oriented, volunteerism, and willingness to share ideas.
- Some travel required.
- Experience with UCITs and private funds a plus.
For Illinois Applicants only: The expected annual base salary range for this position is $90,000 - $120,000. The selected candidate salary is based on numerous factors such as, but not limited to work experience, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, skill level, and geographic location. This is the current estimate of the base salary range intended for this role at the time of this posting. The base salary range may be modified in the future. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
