Position Overview
The DevOps Application Engineer must have a strong understanding of containerization, container build processes and deployment pipelines. Our infrastructure relies heavily on custom bult docker contains and multi-staged build processes. These systems support our SaaS application, Sapphire Software. The DOAE will be responsible for maintaining and improving our CI/CD pipelines, resulting in an easier, scalable, and resilient application deployment process.
The DOAE should have broad knowledge in container orchestration tools, including Kubernetes. They will be responsible for architecture design and roadmap, along with staying current on the latest industry trends and technologies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for Container Orchestration-Maintain Docker Build codebases, Jenkins CI/CD pipelines.
Develop and Implement DevOps Automation-Able to reverse engineer and/or POC a new process.
Lead ColdFusion 16 Upgrade-orchestrate with Dev teams to adjust build process, deployment, and code.
Document Sapphire Software Application Dependencies-Create a software Bill of Materials (SBoM)
Facilitate Application Telemetry-Implement software in containers to report usage metrics.
Code deployment-Pilot a Kuberentes Deployment-Build and present a POC using container orchestration.
Responsible for Sapphire Software Application Releases-Prepare, schedule, and monitor all releases of Sapphire Application code.
Participate in on-call rotations.
Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining policies, procedures, and training plans as they apply to all DevOps Application tasks.
Education required:
B.S. Degree in Computer Science and four years experience.
Essential Qualifications:
4 Years experience with DevOps principles and practices.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g.,Jenkins, Docker Build)
Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Flatcar Linux)
Current experience (or extremely recent experience) with ColdFusion
oMust be comfortable with leading the ColdFusion 16 Upgrade and orchestrating with development teams to adjust build processes, deployments, and code.
oMust be proficient in leading ColdFusion upgrades, building new Docker containers, and working within a Linux environment.
Desired Skills and attributes:
Experience with automation code (e.g., Bash, Groovy, Dockerfile, Jenkinsfile).
Knowledge of container orchestration including cloud deployments.
Understanding of security best practices and tools.
Strong problem-solving and trouble shooting skills.
Technical curiosity to learn new skills and ability to help across the team.
Ability to work independently or in collaboration with all internal partners, both horizontally and vertically within the organization.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with coworkers.
Ability to work independently and to conduct assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
Ability to work outside of normal business hours when necessary
