Manufacturing Innovation & Transformation (MIT) – Advanced Technology Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Advanced Technology Engineer. Responsible for developing and implementing innovation activities improving manufacturing competitiveness. They will working with the Production Engineering Division to improve manufacturing competitiveness.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Build a custom robot based on the need of the application using servo motors, linear rails, and controls.
• Work with stakeholders to understand current processes and issues
• Implement customized robotic solution to remedy stakeholders highest priority problems
• Use strong communication skills to create proposals, negotiate roles and responsibilities, and gain approvals.
• Develop equipment procurement scopes of work and ensure specification is met from planning to production usage.
• Follow Toyota’s policies and procedures to ensure equipment and process safety.
• Present reports and updates to stakeholders, management, and executives
• Communicate with stakeholders, keep them informed and engaged, and resolve issues
• Document the project process and maintain project documentation
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
• Must have experience with rigorous experimentation, Project Management, Advance Automation, Robotics, Vision Systems, Controls Engineering.
• Consultant should have come from a Production Engineering background, understand manufacturing, machine learning, and robotics controls.
• Professional experience – at least one year of experience including co-ops and internships.
• Experience in Robotics, including operation, teaching, maintenance, and safety
• Experience in PLC programming
• Proven experience in development of innovation projects in a manufacturing environment
• Proven experience with project management including writing detailed scope of work, creating schedules, managing vendors/contractors, and providing regular status updates
• Manage project resources, including finances and budgets, and allocate resources throughout the project
• Proven use of computer aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) engineering software techniques
• Ability to analyze and interpret engineering drawings
• Excellent time management and task prioritization skills
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
• Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Teams
EDUCATION:
Preferred Experience Paths:
- 2 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree.
- 1 year of experience plus Co-op experience with any company.
- New college graduates are acceptable if they have internship or co-op experience in engineering.
Education Preference:
- A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- While experience matters, a fresh graduate can still qualify if they have relevant internship or co-op experience.
Must be able to do the following:
• 80% - Limited travel at first but can go up to 80% for a 2-4 month period (Maintain 2 days home in 14 days at minimum)
• Able to travel in the US, Mexico and Canada, must have a valid US Passport with not travel restrictions.
• 50% - Able to work extensive OVERTIME, including weekends and holidays.
DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree - Bachelor’s degree (or above) in Technology Engineering, Engineering & Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Engineering Technology.
• Automotive welding
• Experience in construction management
• Experience in automotive assembly plant
• Project Management certification
• Familiarity with SAE/ISO, NFPA/NEC, and UL standards
• Proven experience with conducting equipment risk assessments
• Experience deploying and troubleshooting vision systems
