Position Hours : Monday-Friday nights 5 : 00 AM – 2 : 00 PM. Hours must be flexible.

Job Overview :

The Warehouse Fleet Operations Manager is responsible for managing dispatch and customer service activities. These responsibilities include the safe and efficient operation of vehicles, planning resource requirements to support customer activity, customer service, staffing, planning, compliance, and safety.

This is a 100% on-site (non-remote) position in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Essential Functions :

  • Complies with all procedures outlined in CalArk’s Policy Manuals, Department Standard Operating Procedures, FMCSA Regulations, DOT and OSHA requirements.
  • Researches, analyzes, designs, and implements methods to improve logistical needs to include optimizing equipment utilization.

o  Evaluates a specific or general process, such as delivery methods, service results or carrier options. Uses financial models to assess the cost-effectiveness and efficiency of alternative methods and reviews legal issues regarding possible new methods in order to ensure compliance with government regulations.

o  Designs possible solutions once the research and analysis stage is complete. This includes creating action plans to leverage strengths and achieve objectives.

o  Chooses the best option and begins instituting directives, standardizing measures, and training staff.

o  After implementing the solutions, establishes and monitors performance in order to ensure that goals are being met.

  • Responsible for maximizing revenues, controlling costs, and making formal presentations.
  • Manages supervisors, logistics specialists, driver managers and customer service personnel.
  • o  This includes personnel evaluations, resolving staff issues and leading conferences, seminars and meetings.

  • Ensures that all orders are dispatched and delivered in a timely manner, meeting customer requirements. In the event of delay, ensure customers are notified with new ETA.
  • Follows and ensures all government regulations are enforced. This includes hours of service and any transportation related regulations across multiple states.
  • Works closely with other department heads to meet the needs of the business.
  • Motivates staff to support our drivers and customers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Possess proven leadership and team building skills.
  • Remain positive and decisive when dealing with problems.
  • Exemplary communication skills to maintain effective working relationships with all levels of the organization, as well as external vendors, and other business contacts.
  • Proficiently able to exchange information both verbally and in writing.

  • Works in accordance with Federal, State, and Local requirements.
  • Constantly works vigilantly and safely.
  • Effectively operates standard office equipment e.g., computer (software programs and email), telephone systems, calculators, and copiers.
  • Proficiently utilizes computer skills with Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.
  • Must be able to quickly learn and comprehend new software that may be used daily.
  • Ability to handle after-hours emergencies is a must.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business.
  • Qualifications

  • 5 years of customer service and dispatch experience in transportation management required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from four-year college or university; or two to four years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven work experience in a less than truckload pickup and delivery environment.
  • Possess proven leadership and team building skills.
  • Experience with Innovative, Omnitracs, and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of Database software, Internet software, Inventory software, Order processing software, Transportation Management systems, and Word processing software preferred.
