Summary
The Lead Plant Maintenance Worker is responsible, under limited supervision, with some scope of independent judgment, planning, and laying out of work details, works from drawings, sketches, and oral instructions. Fabricates, constructs, installs, and makes alterations to all plant machinery, equipment and building. Responsible for the preventive maintenance lubrication schedule for all plant machinery and equipment and may be requested to do other work as directed. The employee performs the assigned duties and responsibilities while maintaining a safe work environment and following the assigned policies and procedures. Must work all available hours that are offered and wherever assigned.
Role and ResponsibilitiesGeneral
Follow all safety and food safety proceduresKeep work area cleanPerform other duties assigned by Management not described below.Daily
Plans work from drawings, sketches and written or oral instructions. Lays out and assigns work to others when assistance is required.Makes all types of repairs and adjustments to keep machinery and equipment in operating condition.Inspects and lubricates all machinery, bearing, etc.; reports defective parts.Disassembles, overhauls and repairs packing equipment such as T-dump, reefers, sizer, conveyors, pumps, compressors, and puree equipment such as T-dump, slicer, mixers, heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, and reassembles same.Repairs pipeline systems, fixtures, apparatus, and accessories for the conveyance and distribution of steam, air, water, and other fluids under pressure; tests systems for leaks.Builds, installs, maintains, and repairs steel structures and heavy plant machinery.Works as “rigger” when moving heavy equipment, structural steel heavy machinery. Uses steel cables, block and tackle, jacks.Operates various shop machinery and equipment such as drill press, power and hand drills, bench presses, welding equipment, grinders, lathe, etc. Performing tasks of average difficulty in the fabrication or fitting of repair and replacement parts of machinery, equipment, and structures to be repaired or maintained.Keeps maintenance supplies at appropriate levels by informing supervisor when ordering is necessary.Performs general carpentry tasks on buildings and other wooden structures including painting as necessary.Informs supervisor if outside service is required.Competency

Education : high school diploma is preferred, but not required.Job Experience : experience handling food in a manufacturing environment is preferred. Hawaii State Driver’s license and forklift certification are necessary.Language Skills : be able to comprehend simple instructions.Reasoning Ability : apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk, stand, reach with hands and arms, and use hands to handle product. Occasionally, the employee may need to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee will regularly lift and / or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee :
Is required to wear personal protective equipment (hair net, smock, sleeves, long pants, and non-slip water resistant footwear).May need to work in a cold and / or hot environmentMust be aware of the hazards of moving machinery.Must be cognizant of body and limbs and avoid being too close to machinery.Food Safety & Food Security Responsibilities
