General Position Summary
We are seeking an initiative-taking and experienced Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager to oversee and implement our organization's environmental, health, and safety programs at our Madera & Fairfield, CA, Boardman, OR and Senatobia, MS facilities. The EHS Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, promoting a culture of safety, and developing strategies to mitigate risks at all four locations. This role requires strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills to drive continuous improvement in EHS practices.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and manage EHS policies, programs, and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including Cal/OSHA, CARB (California Air Resources Board), and California EPA requirements.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to minimize hazards in the workplace.
- Lead safety training and awareness programs for employees and management, ensuring compliance with California Injury and Illness Prevention Programs (IIPP).
- Monitor and analyze EHS performance metrics and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Investigate workplace incidents, near-misses, and hazards to determine root causes and implement corrective actions in accordance with California workers' compensation laws and reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with California Proposition 65, hazardous waste disposal regulations, and stormwater permitting requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, audits, and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS best practices into business operations.
- Develop and oversee emergency response plans, including fire safety and hazardous material management.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure adherence to Cal/OSHA and California Air Resources Board (CARB) regulations.
- Serve as the primary contact for regulatory agencies and participate in compliance audits.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field- preferred.
- , preferably in California-based manufacturing, construction, or industrial environments.
- In-depth knowledge of Cal/OSHA, California EPA, CARB, and Proposition 65 regulations.
- Proven experience in conducting risk assessments and incident investigations.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and training abilities to engage employees at all levels.
- Certification in CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager), or similar credentials is a plus.
- Proficiency in EHS management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of industrial hygiene principles and environmental sustainability initiatives.
