This is the second of four levels in the Pest Control series.
Incumbents collect field data to determine potential mosquito and/or rodent problems, determine the need for treatment, and apply pesticides. Responsibilities may include collecting samples from traps; identifying pest species; treating ditches, culverts and catch basins; responding to complaints from the public; moving, fueling and adding pesticides to aircraft; measuring and mixing pesticides; spraying pesticides; calibrating spray equipment; and maintaining records of activities.(The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not require supervisory responsibilities.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.); or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS
Valid Driver's License as per State law or requirement.
8a and 8b LDAF Commercial Applicators Certification within 1 year.

- Conducts field observations to detect the presence of pests including rodents and mosquitoes.
- Applies, mixes, and stores applicable pesticides, sprays, chemicals, and/or related pesticide applications as directed; adds pesticides to aircrafts as assigned.
- Prepares necessary paths to properly apply pesticides which includes clearing brush, and cutting paths.
- Maintains equipment as necessary which includes calibrating equipment and performing preventative maintenance on equipment and notifying supervisor of damaged equipment.
- Responds to complaints from citizens; monitors and tracks breeding sites; inspects and treats areas as necessary.
- Prepares and maintains a variety of logs, records, and reports related to daily activities including activity reports and work orders.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
