Job Summary:
The Class A Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring industrial equipment used in the processing and production. This role involves ensuring that production runs smoothly, efficiently, and safely while maintaining the highest quality standards. The Class A Operator will also perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot equipment issues, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Equipment Operation:
- Operate industrial machinery and equipment, including crushers, grinders, conveyors, mills, and other equipment used in production.
- Monitor and adjust machine settings to ensure optimal performance and product quality.
- Operate control panels and automation systems to control the production process.
- Ensure proper loading and unloading of raw materials into processing equipment, following established safety and operational protocols.
Process Monitoring:
- Continuously monitor production processes, identifying and resolving issues to prevent equipment downtime or product defects.
- Perform routine inspections and checks on equipment, gauges, and instruments to ensure they are functioning correctly.
- Monitor product quality at various stages of production to ensure adherence to specifications and standards.
- Record operational data such as temperatures, pressures, and flow rates for quality control and troubleshooting purposes.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on production equipment, such as lubricating machinery, changing filters, and cleaning parts.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and make minor repairs or adjustments to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Work closely with the maintenance team to address more complex equipment failures and ensure timely repairs.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:
- Ensure that all operations comply with company safety policies and industry regulations, such as OSHA standards.
- Maintain a safe working environment by following established safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Participate in safety meetings, trainings, and audits to stay current on safety best practices.
- Ensure proper handling and disposal of waste materials in accordance with environmental regulations.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of production data, equipment status, and maintenance activities.
- Prepare and submit daily reports on production performance, including downtime, equipment issues, and product quality deviations.
- Assist with inventory tracking by recording the usage of raw materials and finished products.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with other operators, supervisors, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure smooth operations and timely problem resolution.
- Communicate effectively with the production team regarding process changes, equipment status, and production targets.
- Support the implementation of process improvements and Lean Manufacturing initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required. Technical or vocational training in mechanical systems, industrial operations, or a related field is a plus.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an operator in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the industrial minerals or heavy processing industries.
- Experience operating complex machinery and equipment in an industrial setting is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills:
- Familiarity with industrial equipment and automated control systems (PLC experience is a plus).
- Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and operating instructions.
- Certifications: Certifications in industrial equipment operation, forklift operation, or OSHA safety standards are advantageous.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.50 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 50 per week
