Job Summary
As a Senior Vice President, Public Relations, you will play a critical leadership role, overseeing a single large client or group of smaller clients. You are a pharmaceutical and biotech expert, with a clear understanding of how to guide the team and clients toward strategic solutions that compliantly allow us to reach their goals and activate through the most effective channels. You are skilled at applied strategic thinking, anticipating issues, trends, and connections, and translating those insights into actionable ideas for the clients, Protein, and across Calcium Company.
This role works closely with the Managing Director of PRotein and Calcium Company Executive Team on ensuring the strategic robustness and fiscal health of accounts and the division, as well as nurturing mid- and junior-level talent.
Key Job Responsibilities (Duties may include, but are not limited to all or some of the following)
Strategic & Account Leadership- Play a pivotal role in handling the day-to-day activities for account teams, including working with the Managing Director to drive client business and programs, connecting across all division teams, and providing client counsel
- Be responsive and available to the team and clients, with a “roll up your sleeves” mentality (on internal and external calls, reviewing materials, working closely with the VP on staffing, roles and responsibilities, developing plans and strategic materials with the team)
- Be flexible and manage teams across accounts; coordinate with team on resources and mentor and manage staff
- Bring on agency resources to create the "best teams" and deliver results for your clients
- Develop and execute strategic campaigns across all media channels, earned, paid, owned, and shared
- Display strong presentation skills, including confidence in presenting to clients, present and potential
- Develop and edit high-quality written materials, including client annual plans, creative programs, social strategy and content, media and other stakeholder communications/materials, etc.
- Develop relationships and coordinate across external audiences: third-party organizations, healthcare professionals, media, etc.
- Contribute to new business program development and pitches
Financial Management
- Explore and create opportunities for incremental business growth within your clients’ organizations
- Manage team driving program plans and budgets; ensure regular communication on budget status to clients and agency management
- Develop project budgets, staff plans, and oversee day-to-day client finance and billing process
- Daily, weekly, and monthly management of forecasting/projections with senior management supervision
- Build and maintain strong client relationships on behalf of Calcium Company
- Optimize Calcium Company resources to increase efficiency, knowledge sharing and outputs
- Know the Calcium Company vision, values and structure, including the full range of agency products, services and capabilities
- Cultivate diverse teams and contribute to an inclusive working and learning environment
Job Qualifications (Skills/Requirements)
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Minimum of 10 years of experience. Pharma, Biotech, or healthcare communications experience within an in-house team or communications agency is required, including experience working in corporate healthcare
- Applicant must be able to work 40 hours per week during regular ET zone business hours
- Solid judgement; knows when to use personal judgement and when to seek advice
- Strong demonstrated ability to mentor staff and provide direction and objectives, performance counseling and skill building
- Demonstrates interest and enthusiasm by going the extra mile for clients and your team
- Fully know the client’s business and communications objectives
- Ability to think critically and strategically
- Highly collaborative; can work as a team player and independently
- Ability to be agile and adjust priorities based on agency and client needs
