JOB DESCRIPTION/OVERVIEW:
The Pricing Analyst is responsible for developing pricing strategies and tactics that support the goals of a group of categories using pricing software and analysis. The Pricing Analyst will collaborate with Merchandising Category Managers and other support teams to deliver desired business outcomes.
More specifically, the Pricing Analyst will work directly with Merchandising Category Managers to understand the business opportunities and nuances, and develop a recommended pricing solution through pricing analytics. The role is a mix of hard and soft skills: Day-to-day duties will include using dunnhumby PriceStrat software to recommend and manage pricing for a set of categories. Analytics outside of our main tool may be developed using a combination of strategy and pricing frameworks and data manipulated via database reporting tools, SQL, Alteryx, Excel, and Tableau. The Pricing Analyst will influence pricing action by translating analytics into everyday language, presentations, and visuals to gain support for our recommendations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Pricing Strategy:
o Collaborate with pricing and merchandising leadership to understand and define financial targets, competitive goals, and pricing logic requirements.
· Ongoing Price Management:
o Manage, analyze, and recommend price changes for a group of categories
o Maintain and contribute to accurate foundational pricing data elements
o Evaluate effectiveness of pricing methods and rules. Identify opportunities and recommend refinements to rules and their usage within our tools to achieve financial and competitive goals.
o Develop ad-hoc pricing analyses and recommendations as needed
· Category Analytics:
o Communicate pricing trends and supporting analytics to pricing, merchandising, and leadership
o Create relevant category analytical tools/reports/dashboards that encompass pricing data in connection with consumer, customer, and competitor insights
· Additional duties as assigned or required
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Analytical Business Specialty, or commensurate retail experience preferred
· 3 years of experience in retail, analysis, and/or pricing preferred
· Proficient in a wide range of analytical, quantitative, and statistical techniques and tools to derive insights from large, complex data environments
· Advanced Excel skills required
· Experience with third-party pricing software added bonus (e.g., PriceStrat, Revionics, DemandTec, ClearDemand)
· Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
· Exceptional teamwork, collaboration, and influencing skills
· Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills
· Strong work ethic complemented with a positive, can-do attitude
