Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily shipping and receiving operations, ensuring compliance with company standards and procedures.
- Coordinate and prioritize shipments based on customer demands and delivery schedules.
- Determines and oversees routing and legal load limits of trucks, according to established schedules and weight limits of states.
- Oversee inventory management, including accurate tracking of incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel or contracts with outside service for repair and maintenance.
- Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications and requirements.
- Train and mentor shipping team members to enhance their skills and efficiency.
- Collaborate with other departments to optimize processes and resolve any shipping-related issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to safety regulations and protocols.
- Utilize shipping software and systems to generate shipping labels, track shipments, and manage documentation.
- Evaluate and improve shipping procedures to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
- Prepare reports on shipping activities, including performance metrics and inventory levels.
Requirements:
- Proven experience, five to seven years in a shipping, inventory control, or logistics role, with at least three years in a lead capacity.
- Prior experience coaching, training, mentoring, and evaluating employees.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively both verbal and in writing.
- Excellent knowledge of shipping and receiving processes, including familiarity with shipping software and systems.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Problem-solving skills to address logistical challenges and optimize shipping operations.
- Understanding of safety regulations and the ability to ensure compliance with company and state regulations and requirements.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; additional education or certifications in logistics or a related field is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
· Must have the ability to stand for extended periods of time and safely maneuver.
· Must be able to bend, kneel, squat, crouch, crawl, balance and stoop.
· Must have the ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing.
This is a non-climate controlled environment
