Position Summary:
Calderon is seeking a broadly talented, collaborative controller who excels in detailed accounting execution, yet has talent for strategy and global planning. We require a candidate who is curious to learn and willing to get deep into the weeds, yet innately utilizes experiences and critical thinking to lead through evolving dynamics and priorities. The ideal controller is fully at ease independently managing the day-to-day while ensuring operational effectiveness in support of rapid growth and scale. With full ownership of all accounting and compliance functions, financial reporting, audit, and occasional projects, this role brings maturity and strategic talent to elevate into greater leadership roles.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Lead team in daily functions – banking/funding, A/P and inventory transactions, tax reporting and general accounting transactions.
• Actively engage in monthly closing - all JE’s and reconciliations, CapEx, Commissions, reserves/estimates and financial reporting.
• Participate in annual CPA audit and bank collateral audits.
• Lead in continual process improvement (cross department) and technology implementation.
• Prepare payroll and handle payroll and benefits related transactions.
• Ensure timely, accurate reporting for sales and property taxes, estimated corporate tax payments and state/local registrations.
• Lead on budget development, analysis and projects as requested.

Qualifications:
• 10-15 years’ experience in accounting and finance
• 5-7 years of strong management experience in accounting and finance
• 3-5 years’ experience as a detailed Controller or Director of Accounting/Finance
• Cross-functional experience, preferably in operations and inventory management
• Excellent overall communication skills
• Experience in process improvement and automation
• High-level relationship experience with key partners - banks, attorneys, etc.
• Growing experience in financial analysis, modeling and budgeting
• Technical proficiencies – highly proficient in all MS Office applications, extensive ERP experience, experience with databases, BI tools and other business applications (Workday, Trello, etc.)
• Current(preferred) or prior CPA
• Functional experience in the following areas preferred
- Distribution and custom manufacturing
- Insurance, risk management, benefits procurement and administration
- Systems development and implementation
- Collaborative project management
- Presentation/interaction with Board of directors and key stakeholders
- Business contracts
