JOB TITLE: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse - Cardiology
DEPARTMENT: Caldwell Medical Associates - Cardiology Clinic
REPORTS TO: Director of Clinic Operations and Supervising Collaborative Physician
POSITION SUMMARY:
- Provides primary care evaluation and treatment to patients presenting for care, utilizing ancillary diagnostic services and physician consultation as may be indicated.
- Works closely with physicians, nursing staff, office staff, patients and families in the Cardiology Clinic
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Admit/discharge patients
- Cardioversion
- Consultations/referrals as appropriate
- Diagnostic laboratory tests and imaging studies, order and interpret
- Discharge summaries
- All modalities of Cardiac Stress Testing; to include Echo, Exercise, Treadmill, Nuclear, and Pharmacologic testing
- Health/illness prevention patient counseling
- History and physical examination (H&P)
- Perform rounds
- Prescribe medications in accordance with state laws
- Record progress notes in patient chart
- Treatment plans, development of
- Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM EDUCATION
Masters of Science Nursing degree from accredited nurse practitioner training program, and certification by, or eligibility to sit for the certification exam of, The American Nurse Credentialing Center as a Nurse Practitioner, along with current licensure in Kentucky as a Registered Nurse and as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner.
The Comprehensive Clinical Cardiology Update course by Harvard Medical School.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
Prior experience as a nurse practitioner in Cardiology Clinic care preferred, but not required.
