POSITION SUMMARY
- Responsible for patient care under the direction of a physician or licensed health care provider.
- Is accountable for the delivery of consistently high quality, effective and efficient entry of information into the computer system.
- Functions under the supervision of the Cardiology Clinic Manager.
- Is accountable for the effective, efficient and safe operations of the Cardiology Clinic ensuring that the objectives of the clinic and the organization are met.
- Ensures appropriate organizational and patient safety practices are in use.
- Promotes good public relations through contacts with patients, practitioners, visitors, employees, peers and the public at large.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Recruits patients, obtains vitals, obtains an EKG when indicated and processes patient information in a timely and accurate fashion. Interviews patients or their representatives verifying data and inputs in the computer which includes vitals, height, weight, social profile, medical history, surgeries, medications, family history, and problem list.
- Obtains required signatures on forms according to established procedures and ensures information recorded is complete and accurate for processing of charges and billing.
- Assembles patient files that may include: history and physicals from referring provider, registration forms, test requisitions/reports, photocopies of insurance cards, and driver’s license when applicable.
- Processes incoming and outgoing telephone calls efficiently, politely and quickly as possible while responding to inquiries according to established policies for release of information.
- Corrects or updates computer records to reflect change in patient status.
- Requisitions and stores approved office supplies and forms, keeping quantities to a minimum.
- Promotes good public relations through contacts with physicians, patient, visitors, employees and peers.
- Promotes a positive image to patients and physicians by possessing a professional appearance and attitude.
- Assists in maintaining the clinic quality improvement program, safety and environmental standards.
- Assists in implementing department specific goals and objectives in keeping with overall Cardiology Clinic and organizational goals and objectives.
- Assists in maintaining adequate and effective communication between the Cardiology Clinic and ancillary departments for customer service.
- Interacts with others (on the phone or in person) in a positive, professional and appropriate manner.
- Works cooperatively with others and demonstrates respect and understanding of the contributions of all team members.
- Protects patient confidentiality by promoting appropriate staff communication practices.
- Maintain patient documents prior to the patient visit with provider. These documents include, cardiology test results, history and physicals.
- Complete and send all prior authorization forms to Central Prior Authorization Department for Echo, CTA, and Stress tests.
- Schedule Echo, CTA, and Stress tests for patients.
- Complete Echo, CTA, and Stress test education with patients prior to their test appointment.
- Attends required meetings.
- Works shifts as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
