What we are Looking For:
As a CEC Electrical Designer/Industrial Controls Engineer, you will be designing control panels from concept through manufacturing.
UL 508 Industrial Control Panel design includes meeting with an owner, gathering their information, operation and then designing a control panel, and working through the process of preliminary engineering, review, approval, bill of materials, sequence of operation review, and then move into manufacturing of the control panel. Ensuring accurate and timely delivery of drawings is critical.
To be successful in this role you must have:
- AutoCAD Electrical is required, E Plan software is a plus.
- Manufacture Technical Representative, MTR or at a minimum must have experience working with UL under UL508 Industrial Control Panel designs.
- Field experience with instrumentation and motor controls.
- Demonstrated expertise in using AutoCAD for 2D schematics.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
Electrical Designer Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all assigned electrical projects are completed on time and according to schedule.
- Regularly update the project management and task tracking systems for all projects and associated tasks.
- Write and enforce electrical panel building procedures to be followed for manufacturing.
- Design AC/DC control systems with PLCs, networking, HMIs, panel-mount devices, and relay logic.
- Establish communication with Engineering and Project Management at the start of each project, ensuring they are kept informed about all aspects of the design throughout the process.
- Working with in house UL panel shop.
- Collaborate closely with vendors to specify new components and replace obsolete ones.
- Verify components selected for BOM have a lead time that will correspond with project timeline.
- Actively lead and participate in all necessary actions to complete job steps effectively and safely.
- Promote continuous design improvements.
- Coordinate with Purchasing to ensure that all Bills of Materials (BOM) are ordered accurately and on time.
- Communicate and collaborate with the field team, especially when working remotely, to ensure successful job execution and support troubleshooting efforts.
- Manage and oversee the generation of part numbers.
- Manage and oversee the development of processes, procedures, internal quality standards, and best practices related to Electrical Design.
