QUALIFICATIONS
CREDENTIAL: Required Current Idaho Administrator Credentia
EDUCATION: Required M.A. or M.S
EXPERIENCE: Required Five or more years of teaching and administrative experience at the secondary level

ethnically diverse staff, students, and community.
Demonstrated ability to work with a wide variety
of community groups and organizations.
PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Caldwell Senior High School Principal serves as chief administrator of a large senior high school. In collaboration with the Superintendent and district level administration, the Caldwell Senior High School Principal provides professional leadership in organizing, administering, supervising, and evaluating a 21st Century learning environment. Ultimately, the principal’s main task is to create a culture focused on preparing all students for their postsecondary options.
The Caldwell Senior High School Principal works collaboratively with the community, staff, and administration of Caldwell School District. In addition, the Principal is responsible for:
- Maintaining an effective instructional program
- Creating a 21st Century college and career master schedule
- Providing an educational program that is responsive to the needs of all students
- Supervision of the school physical facility
- Fiduciary management of all school budgets
- Evaluation of certificated and classified staff
- All student activity programs
- Cultivating active relationships with the community
- Fostering close articulation with other educational levels (i.e. middle school administration, alternative high school administration, and college building administration)
- Ensuring the safety and welfare of both students and staff
- Operating Caldwell High School in accordance with District Policies
SUPERVISOR
Responsible to the Superintendent.
SUPERVISORY & EVALUATION ROLES
- Supervises all employees in Caldwell High School.
- Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, hiring, and evaluation of staff. The principal:
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Caldwell School District policies and applicable laws;
- Responsibilities include interviewing, recommending candidates for employment, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; and
- Directly responsible to the Superintendent for satisfactory fulfillment of the duties assigned to them, and shall be considered as a confidential employee.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the superintendent including the application and management of federal funds.
- Brings all substantial proposed contractual agreements and any concerns to the attention of appropriate district personnel before any commitment, or any other form of obligation, is made.
COMPENSATION
- Administrative salary schedule and benefits will be based on experience and in accordance with District salary schedule.
- The Caldwell High School Principal shall work 223 days.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interact with high school students to encourage each individual to perform at their highest level
- Communicate openly and effectively with students, community, staff, and administration.
- Manage all high school building staff personnel
- Implement state and board approved program for the evaluation and improvement of instruction to ensure maximum educational benefits for students
- Supervise the educational program by regular classroom and overall building observations of students and teachers
- Observe and conducts post-observation conferences with teachers providing recommendations for improving instruction: prepares appraisal reports for professional personnel assigned by the Superintendent
- Make all recommendations to the Superintendent relative to promotion, retention, suspension, demotion or assignment changes of all personnel assigned to Caldwell High School
- Interview and recommends to the Superintendent personnel for employment.
- Assign teachers to classrooms and students to classes
- Assign specific duties to the Assistant Principal(s) and/or Athletic Director and/or Dean of Students
- Assist in the selection and placement of classified personnel who will have responsibility at Caldwell High School
- Resolve staff problems and provides support to teachers
- Provide general supervision to students
- Supervise extra-curricular activities
- Maintain positive relations with parents, parent groups, school volunteers, community members, and other organizations and agencies
- Maintain regular contact with parents regarding the needs, achievement and behavior of their children (conferences, booster meetings, newsletters, etc.)
- Under the direction of the Superintendent, prepare releases of information to the general public and local news media, interprets educational programs and problems relative to Caldwell High School
- Develop an atmosphere of respect, interest, and enthusiasm within the school
- Plan and organize the school day and year to provide for efficient operation of the school
- Supervise and provide for the general welfare of students during the school day, on school trips, and during school activities
- Maintain effective programs to strengthen and monitor pupil discipline, attendance, and individual progress in accordance with district policy
- Provide a positive environment for students through the establishment of reasonable rules and regulations governing behavior and fair practices dealing with disciplinary infractions during the school day, at school activities, and on school buses
- Provide for the maintenance of up-to-date cumulative records including student grades, attendance, health, test data, and all other data relative to the student
- Review and communicates with District leadership the scheduling of high school activities as well as the use of the high school facility
- Develop an annual student handbook containing information, rules, and regulations
- Work with counselors to ensure pupils are assigned to appropriate grade placement programs, etc.
- Coordinate special service programs and personnel and provides appropriate testing and placement of students in special programs
- Monitor all special service programs in accordance with state and federal mandates
- Maintain school records and file necessary reports
- Maintain safe, clean, attractive, and well-kept buildings and grounds
- Work cooperatively with peers in sharing ideas, techniques, and procedures for improvement of the learning environment
- Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas and techniques
- Develop and submit personal job goals to the Superintendent and provides evidence of job performance through plans developed collaboratively with the Superintendent and District leadership
- Participate in required administrative meetings
- Attend all regularly scheduled meetings of the school board
- Assist the Superintendent in undertaking such other duties as needed

Performance will be evaluated by the Superintendent on the basis of this job description and the Idaho Standards for Effective Principals.
