Reporting to the Assistant Director of Advising and Academic Support, the Tutoring and Writing Support Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting undergraduate student success by connecting students with qualified peer and professional tutors and ensuring the smooth operation of the tutoring program. Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Recruit, interview, and select qualified peer and professional tutors.
- Match students needing tutoring with appropriate peer tutors based on subject expertise and availability.
- Develop and implement training programs for peer tutors, focusing on effective tutoring strategies, communication skills, and university policies.
- Provide regular constructive feedback, supervision, and training opportunities to tutors
- Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions, including student participation, tutor hours, and subject areas.
- Monitor the effectiveness of the tutoring program through student and tutor feedback and make recommendations for improvements
- Assist with program evaluation of the tutoring program.
- Promote the tutoring program to the university community through various channels, such as social media, flyers, and presentations.
- Collaborate with faculty members to identify student needs and recruit tutors for specific courses or subjects.
- Address any issues or concerns that may arise between tutors and students.
- Ensure compliance with university policies and procedures related to tutoring services.
- Prepare monthly reports on program statistics and student outcomes.
- Supervise testing of students who require academic accommodations.
