Job DescriptionPosition: Preschool TeacherReports To: PrincipalWork Location: Twinfield Union School - Plainfield, VTSalary: Based on ExperienceFLSA Status: ExemptOur MissionIt is the mission of the Caledonia Central Supervisory Union and its seven member schools to create a learning community in which each individual can achieve the highest standards of excellence in intellectual growth and citizenship.Job Overview: We are seeking a passionate, nurturing, and dedicated Preschool Teacher to join our early childhood education team in Vermont. As a Preschool Teacher, you will play a critical role in fostering the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of young children in a safe and supportive environment. You will create engaging learning experiences, promote positive behavior, and collaborate with families and colleagues to support each child's growth and success.Key Responsibilities: Promote the importance of inclusive and effective early childhood experiences.Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity and curiosity.Build equitable access to opportunities, supports, and services.Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that recognizes the interests, strengths, and areas for growth of all children by utilizing The Creative Curriculum, Guided Edition to develop and guide learning for all students.Lead daily activities, model play and social-emotional skills for all students, support and/or facilitate childrens play throughout the preschool day.Draw upon evidence and research for practices that are responsive and appropriate to the childs culture, language(s), abilities, developmental level, identities, and needs.Observe and assess each childs development, progress, and learning needs.Provide individualized support to children based on their developmental stages and unique needs.Build and maintain positive relationships with children, parents, and staff to create a supportive learning community.Support children in developing social skills, emotional regulation, and problem-solving abilities.In accordance with school policies, manage classroom behavior in a positive and constructive manner.Maintain accurate records on each childs progress, including anecdotal notes, assessments, and portfolios.Communicate regularly with parents about their childs development and classroom activities through meetings, emails, and newsletters.Ensure the classroom and surrounding areas are kept clean, organized, and safe.Participate in school-based meetings and training as well as professional development through Caledonia Central Supervisory Union.Follow all Center-Based Child Care and Preschool Licensing and Vermont Agency of Education regulatory guidelines.Qualifications: Minimum of a Bachelor degree Applicants must have or be eligible for a Vermont teachers license with Early Childhood or Early Childhood Special Education endorsement and maintain throughout employment.Experience working with young children in a preschool or child care setting is a plus.Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.A passion for early childhood education and a deep commitment to fostering a love of learning in young children.Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.Must be CPR and First Aid certified (or willing to obtain certification).Background check and references required.Physical RequirementsWork environment is in a mixed environment, with moderate noise, temperatures that are controlled, and no exposure to chemicals or other negative air quality elements.The work is light/moderate work, requiring exertion of up to 30 pounds of force to move or lift objects.The following physical and mental abilities are representative of those expected to complete the essential functions of the job: Standing for prolonged periodsSitting for prolonged periodsRepetitive motions with the hands, wrists, or fingersRepetitive motions with force on the back or lower bodyAbility to feel, grasp, or hold objects by handDiscernment of colors visuallyDiscernment of letters or numbersDiscernment of objects under low light or distant conditionsUnderstanding and communicating in spoken languageUnderstanding and communicating in written languagePerception of soundsMaking decisions using logic and rational thinkingTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily.
