Part Time General Maintenance

Responsible for all groundskeeping and general maintenance. Duties include planning and upkeep of grounds and beds, driving work trucks, and making deliveries on campus.

Qualifications

Application materials must provide documentation that the applicant meets all minimum qualifications.

• Plant shrubbery, and flowers; pots flowers, replants items outside in beds; waters and sprays insecticides; fertilizes beds.
• Assist in maintenance of campus irrigation system.
• Patch potholes in parking lots and drives.
• Perform daily maintenance, including debris removal, watering, trimming and weeding.
• Move furniture to various locations on campus; sets up for special events.
• Install ceiling tile, install and/or change lighting; install and assemble other items, as requested.
• Keeps warehouse orderly.
• Assist other maintenance groups.
• Perform all duties with professionalism.
• Performs related work as assigned.
  
  

MINIMUM EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience with groundskeeping, equipment, and general maintenance is required.
  
  

Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate through their experiences and accomplishments:

• Effective oral and written communication skills;
• Ability to operate front-end loader, garden tiller, forklift, tractor, chainsaw, weed eater, pressure washer and lawnmower;
• Ability to drive work trucks, pickup, and vans;
• Ability to operate equipment, climb a ladder and lift heavy objects;
• Ability and willingness to work non-standard hours;
• Possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable;
• Ability to operate in a professional manner at all times;
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, other employees, and the public;
• Customer Service Orientation – A focus on being friendly and patient in responding to customer needs;
• Willingness to maintain flexibility in order to meet customer needs;
• A positive attitude regardless of circumstances at hand;
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to prescribed routines;
