What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-time Police Officer (1 or more) position at Calhoun Community College?
Routine security work including campus surveillance, traffic control, securing buildings, and accident and theft investigation, if required. Position will primarily be for weekends and after hours when students are not on campus. In addition, security officers may work during normal college hours, with other APOSTC certified officers. Job location shall either be on the Decatur or Huntsville Campuses.

- Maintain campus surveillance by foot or vehicular patrol.
- Issues citations for traffic and parking violations and directs incoming and outgoing traffic.
- Monitors severe weather, checks for leaks, fires and safety hazards, checks fire extinguishers
- Locks all rooms containing equipment; secure all interior and exterior doors of building; unlock buildings.
- Investigate accidents and thefts; complete and file appropriate reports, if required.
- Assist state and local law enforcement agencies.
- Assist students, faculty, and visitors with vehicular problems, assist visitors with locating buildings.
- Answer telephone, monitor radio, and deliver messages.
- May be required to make mail deliveries and/or deliver bank deposits.
- May be required to work any shift deemed necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current certification by the Alabama Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission (APOSTC) certified for law enforcement officers with good standing.
- Possession of valid driver's license and ability to be insurable by Calhoun's insurance.
