The Calhoun County Civil Service Board will be taking applications for the position of CIVIL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN I, beginning Friday, April 11th through Thursday, April 24th. Applications can be obtained at the Board Office or online at www.calhouncounty.org.
JOB SUMMARY
Under general direction, assists in performing engineering and right-of-way surveys for new construction or reconstruction of county roads and bridges. Produces drawings showing cuts, fills, curves, bridges and drainage. Negotiates right-of-way with property owners. Inspects bridges for conformance to federal and state requirements. Serves as project engineer on construction and resurfacing projects. Coordinates the work of highway department with contractors.

QUALIFICATIONS
Valid driver’s license; High school diploma or GED, including courses in mathematics, science, and mechanical drawing; Minimum two years experience in making surveys on roads and bridges and in preparing documents and plan preparations and/or 2 years of education in an engineering based curriculum in an ABET approved college.
SALARY
Range 20 - $22.25 / hr at hire.
