Summary The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for processing payroll accurately and on time, maintaining payroll records, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role works closely with the HR and Finance teams to address payroll-related inquiries, resolve discrepancies, and support audits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Payroll Processing:
- Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees and monthly payroll for commissioned employees, while ensuring timely and accurate payments that comply with company policies.
- Review and verify timekeeping records for accuracy and completeness.
- Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, and deductions, including taxes and benefits.
Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including FLSA and tax laws.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and provide reports to management as requested.
Employee Support:
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and taxes promptly and professionally.
- Assist employees with direct deposit setup and payroll-related documentation as needed.
- Track and maintain PTO log for support staff.
Systems and Audits:
- Maintain and update payroll information in the payroll system (e.g., UKG, Paycor).
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary payroll data and documentation.
Benefits and Deductions:
- Coordinate with HR to ensure accurate deduction of benefits, including health insurance, retirement contributions, and garnishments.
- Reconcile payroll and benefit-related discrepancies in collaboration with HR and Finance teams.
Qualifications and requirements:
Experience:
- 2 years of payroll processing experience.
- Familiarity with payroll software (e.g., UKG, Paycor) is required.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of payroll principles and regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to offer great customer service to our internal and external customers.
This is a hybrid position. Candidates MUST reside in the Kansas City Metro area in order to be considered. No exceptions. This role is required to be in the office Tues-Thurs on a weekly basis.
