Job Objective
Caliber Information Systems is a premier provider of trailing equipment inspection services to the transportation industry. We serve the Intermodal and Commercial Carrier sectors of the Transportation Industry.
We are looking for an effective Chassis Maintenance & Container Inspector who possesses great attention to detail and an ability to work independently. The Intermodal and Chassis Inspector will inspect customer-owned chassis and container equipment, while maintaining the required quality and productivity levels.
Duties & Responsibilities
· The equipment must be maintained to AAR, IICL, FMCSA or other agreed upon industry standards
· The inspector will help to ensure that only well maintained, properly repaired and safe equipment returns to the roadways
· The inspector will be familiar with proper methods of repair, repair coding, and utilize the required testing equipment to conduct proper pre- and post-repair inspections
· The inspector will safely operate a fleet vehicle and abide by all the rules and regulations of Caliber, our customers, and the states where we operate
· Perform quality control inspections of chassis
· Audit repair vendors at area rail depots and other locations for compliance and to ensure consistency and productivity
· Using digital technology and a handheld device to perform quality control inspections of chassis
· Special Projects as assigned.
· Identify damage and defects are entered into a mobile handheld device.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- IICL Chassis Inspector Certification is preferred; if not certified, the candidate will be trained to pass the IICL Certification exam
- Must be able to obtain ERailSafe, TWIC, and ISN badge credentials
- Must have a valid driver’s license, possess and maintain a satisfactory driving record
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment 5-panel drug screen
- Willingness to submit to a national criminal background check
- Must be able to perform “walk-around” inspection of chassis, as well as using a crawler to check brakes and axles
- Must be able to lift/roll heavy objects including truck tires
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Excellent attention to detail
- Must be able to multi-task and work independently as well as contribute to the overall success of the team
- Comply with OSHA regulations and location safety policies and procedures
- Ability to multitask

Education & Experience
· High school diploma or GED; at least 6 months of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
· Completed an associate degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience.
· Experience with intermodal chassis maintenance or mechanical background is a plus.
Physical Demands
· Job requires employee to frequently stand in an upright position for continuous periods of time without being able to leave the work area
· Job requires employee to frequently raise or lower objects up to 10 lb. from one level to another regularly during the shift
· Job requires employee to frequently work in a confined space or to crawl or move about on hands and knees
· Job requires frequently expressing ideas through the spoken word.
· Job requires employees to frequently use hands and fingers to manipulate computer keyboards, objects, or controls.
· Ability to travel. Very little travel required.

Salary Range: $48,000-$55,000 depending on education/experience.
