Caliber Products Inc. is an industry leader in trailer accessories. We develop products that address the ATV, snowmobile, marine trailer, and OEM markets. We are seeking a First Shift Lead for our injection molding facility in Burnsville, MN.
Caliber Products Inc is seeking a highly motivated 1st Shift Lead to join the team. The Shift Lead supervises the production processes to ensure all products are safely built, delivered on time, and built to our quality standards. Duties include the supervision of operators and equipment, the tracking of all labor hours inventory movements in Epicor, and a vigorous dedication to continuous improvement efforts. The Shift Lead reports to the Operations Director.
Requirements:
· Two years of related experience or training and a high school diploma or a general education degree
· Fluent in English and Spanish
· Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating procedures, and maintenance instructions.
· Familiarity with hydraulic and electrical injection molding presses
· Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of manufacturing variables.
· Effective communication with both internal and external customers.
· Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills.
· Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and stand for extended periods of time.
· Ability to drive a forklift and operate a crane.
· Previous leadership experience is a plus.
· Previous experience with Epicor is a plus.
· Leads with a one-team mindset.
Description of Essential Functions:
Lead, Manage, Accountability - 60%
- Executes strategies, tactics, to manufacture products to standard.
- Manages labor to ensure the most effective use.
- Engage in all floor activities including coverage for breaks
- Ensures all labor and inventory transactions are clearly and accurately tracked.
- Uses metrics to make decisions around on/off track jobs and how to manage effectively.
- Ensure processing follows work instructions
- Manages operators and material handlers to ensure on-time delivery of raw and finished goods.
- Makes minor adjustments to equipment.
- Completes jobs with allotted labor hours, reports variances, and action items.
- Manages uptime to ensure metrics are met.
Safety - 5%
- · Ensures all Safety standards with Operators and Material handlers are compliant with our safety standards.
- · Provides feedback around safety improvements.
- · Decides to take equipment offline as required.
- · Implements/trainings regularly around safety and compliance
Quality - 5%
- Use key metrics to measure improvement in performance.
- Decides to take equipment offline as required.
- Actively checks parts to ensure conformance with Quality standards.
- Addresses any non-conformance issues in a timely manner
Continuous Improvement / Training - 20%
- Identify and train operators, assemblers, and materials handlers to become cross-functional.
- Teach each operator the process to ensure compliance with Epicor and ISO
- Engages in the L10 Process and implements similar tactics within each cell.
Communication - 10%
- Collaborates with operations to influence actions needed to efficiently produce products.
- Encourage and influence employees, at all levels, as one of the key leaders in continuous improvement.
- Believes in and communicates the ISO plan regularly.
- Communicate with the manager on open or pending actions items in a timely manner.
