Job Description
Calibration Laboratory, LLC is seeking a career-minded, technical professional to serve as a Metrology Engineer.
An ideal applicant has a strong foundation in applied sciences and mathematics. The applicant does not necessarily need experience in metrology or calibration, but will be highly regarded. Any applicant showing the necessary aptitude will be trained to the required proficiencies.
Metrology is defined as the study of measurement and extends into Engineering/Manufacturing; but is built on Physics/Chemistry, Mathematics, and Applied Statistics.
Calibration can be explained in the simplest way as comparing an unknown value to a known value. Calibration Laboratory retains these known values as Standards. We compare our Standards to customer's equipment. Our customers extend into Manufacturing/Services/Military/etc. They are only able to complete their objectives with equipment that measures correctly and accurately.
The Metrology Engineers assists the Metrology Manager to maintain the Metrology System which consists of technical training, traceability of the standards, and industry compliance.

Responsibilities
- Maintenance and Calibration of Standards
- Development and Review of Statistical Uncertainty Budgets
- Development and Review of Calibration Datasheets in our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
- Development and Review of Accuracy Profiles (LIMS)
- Development and Review of Calibration Procedures
- Assists in the technical curriculum of training courses (E-Learning)
- Performs Quality Checks on Production Calibrations to assure technical compliance
- Researches and Recommends external specifications and methods (e.g. ASTM, ASME, etc.)
- Researches new standards and equipment to make value added recommendations
Skills and Requirements
- College level mathematics and science skills required
- Exhibition of excellent math skills and problem solving skills.
- Computer Programming experience preferred
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills
- Must Pass entrance exam (see Application Process below)
- Timely completion on all assigned training.
- Possess and maintain a high level of detail work ethic.
- Demonstration of applied sciences
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.
Education
- Associates/Bachelors degree in technical field preferred
- Military service field highly regarded
Physical Demands
- Ability to communicate orally with customers, vendors, management, and coworkers is crucial. Regular use of phone and email for communication is essential. Hearing and vision correctable to within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, receiving ordinary information, and preparing or inspecting documents and calibration activities.
- The ability to remain in a stationary position roughly 50% of the time, as well as the ability to move about the laboratory spaces as required.
Reports To
The Metrology Engineers reports directly to the Metrology Manager.
