As a Staff Accountant at our firm, you’ll play a key role in supporting our dynamic Accounting Department. You’ll be responsible for managing a variety of accounting functions, from payroll to benefit administration, ensuring smooth financial operations that contribute to the overall success of the firm.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Support:
- Ensure accurate and timely semi-monthly payroll processing, including all deductions.
- Collaborate with the payroll team to assist with ADP system entries and journal postings.
- Help track and manage time-off balances and PTO accruals, ensuring accurate payroll postings.
- Serve as a point of contact for payroll service providers, ensuring client payroll is processed correctly and on time.
- Oversee 401(k) plan processes, ensuring timely contributions and updates for employee changes.
- Monitor employee benefits like H.S.A. and health insurance, ensuring accurate payments and reconciliations.
- Assist with 401(k) audits, benefits plan administration, and payment dispersals.
- Manage fringe benefits allocations and ensure proper recording of salary transactions.
- Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard revenue and ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Reconcile receipts and revenue in the Practice Management system with the general ledger and bank statements.
- Assist with finalizing financial statements, budgeting, and audit preparation.
- Track and explain budget-to-actual variances, making recommendations to improve financial performance.
- Gather vendor information for annual tax forms (1099s, 1042-s) and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
- A self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- A keen eye for detail and an analytical mindset.
- A strong team player with excellent communication skills.
- While this role is primarily desk-based, occasional filing and physical tasks such as lifting files or bending to access filing cabinets may be required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2 years of hands-on accounting experience in either public or private accounting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Advanced experience with QuickBooks and other accounting software.
- 1 years of experience in a similar accounting role.
- Familiarity with ADP Workforce Now and QuickBooks Online.
- Experience with CCH ProSystem fx Practice Management.
