CALIBRE Systems, Inc ., an Employee-Owned Management Consulting and Digital Transformation company, is seeking an individual who will support missions of the National Guard Bureau (NGB) J8. As a Wargame Developer, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and executing wargames that focus on the unique requirements of the National Guard to include Civil Support and Domestic Operations. This position requires a self-motivated individual capable of working independently to produce high-quality wargames that inform policy, strategy, and decision-making. This is an in-place position with opportunity for limited situational telework.
Position Overview : Tasks may include :
Conduct detailed research and analysis to inform wargame development.
Coordinate, research, design, develop, rehearse, execute, and facilitate wargames; and write and present after-action observations and reports of those same wargames for the Chief of the National Guard Bureau, National Guard Bureau (NGB) staff, and National Guard within the States and Territories.
Implement concept exploration and experiential learning methodologies in wargame design.
Research and integrate future technologies and concepts into wargames to address emerging threats and challenges.
Establish and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including subject matter experts, emergency management personnel, and stakeholders, to ensure wargames meet organizational objectives.
Present briefings on NGB wargaming methods, applications, past and present wargames, and observations and lessons learned to key stakeholders, State emergency managers, and others at large-scale National Guard conferences and other events.
Collaborate with staffs across the NGB joint staff, ARNG, ANG, and DoD as well as with POCs in the States and Territories, Senior Service schools, and Services to develop or maintain relationships contributing to the effective delivery of wargames to achieve stakeholder objectives nested to NGB priorities.
Contribute to the development and update of documentation specific to the NGB Wargame Program and related processes.
Assist in assessing issues, providing timely information, and developing recommendations for NGB leaders in support of their participation in senior leader forums.
Support developing and responding to formal staffing actions in ETMS2. Assist in developing, staffing, and finalizing NGB senior leader correspondence and written military advice.
Maintaining proficiency of wargaming methods, mechanics, and styles by researching, playing board games, attending professional wargaming events, and collaborating with wargaming peers.

Proficiency with groupware applications (e.g., SharePoint, MS Teams) and the Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint., etc.).
Proven experience in wargame design and development, including analysis-based, concept exploration, and experiential learning wargames.
Must be able to travel.
Preferred Skills :
Proficiency in DOD tasking systems (e. g. ETMS2).
Knowledge of the use of analytical software, modelling and simulation in support of wargaming.
Wargaming Certification.
Prior military experience, particularly with the National Guard.
Strong leadership and project management skills.
Required Experience
4 – 6 years of experience working within senior defense organizations (Services, Reserve Components, Joint Staff, National Guard Bureau Joint Staff, OSD, Senior Service Professional Military Education institutions, DC-based FFRDCs) and experience interacting with senior officials.
4-6 years of demonstrated experience planning, preparing, rehearsing, executing, facilitating wargames and writing, editing, final proofing and presenting initial and final wargame reports to senior officials.
Knowledge and understanding of the National Guard Bureau and National Guard, as well as Civil Support and Domestic Operations a plus.
Education :
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school by a national or regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Master’s Degree preferred.
Graduate of CGSC or ILE if former military officer, commensurate Professional Military Education if former military Warrant, Enlisted or Civil Service.
