Job Opportunity : DBA for iSeries Modernization Efforts
We are looking for a skilled Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team and contribute to our ongoing modernization initiatives. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise with the iSeries platform and a focus on modernizing databases for future integration efforts. The primary responsibility will be managing DB2 databases and SQL programming, with less emphasis on RPG and Cobol.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with our application development team to implement industry best practices and enhance the performance of iSeries databases. You will also assist developers in reviewing existing SQL, RPG, and Cobol code for optimization, ensuring that new database objects are efficiently implemented into production environments.
Key Responsibilities :
- Design, develop, and manage DB2 databases on the iSeries platform.
- Write, optimize, and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers.
- Provide ongoing support for legacy applications and systems on the iSeries platform.
- Integrate DB2 databases with other systems and applications to support modernization efforts.
- Monitor and enhance database performance to ensure seamless data retrieval and processing.
- Safeguard data integrity, security, and ensure backup / recovery protocols are followed.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, performance bottlenecks, and bugs.
- Document database structures, processes, and procedures comprehensively.
- Work alongside developers, IT teams, and business stakeholders to meet project goals and timelines.
