Cobol Programmer / Developer
We are seeking a highly skilled COBOL Programmer to join our team on a hybrid, long-term contract in Reading, PA.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and develop and maintain mainframe applications using programming languages such as COBOL, JCL, and more.
- Provide application enhancement and apply patches, updates, etc.
- Conduct code reviews, unit testing, system testing, and integration testing in multiple environments (i.e., Development, Testing, Staging, and Production)
- Provide support for production systems, troubleshoot issues, and upgrade system software
- Work closely with business analysts and stakeholders (i.e., client-facing) to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
- Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation to assist with systems' ongoing operation and development.
- A minimum of ten years of Cobol development in a mainframe environment
- Deep skills and experience with CICS and batch development for Cobol applications
- Working knowledge of mainframe development, integration, and database technologies and languages to include IBM's Job Control Language (JCL), z/OS, Customer Information Control System (CICS)
- Experience with TSO
- Experience with SCLM
- IBM Debugging tools for z/OS
- VSAM skills
