Role Summary
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) plays a critical role in supporting the General Manager (GM) in the daily operations of the Fairfield Taproom. The AGM will help drive hospitality excellence, team development, and operational efficiency while fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability. This position requires a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about craft beer and customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Team Development
- Assist in hiring, training, and mentoring taproom staff to maintain a high-performing team.
- Act as a culture leader, reinforcing Calicraft’s values and fostering a positive work environment.
- Support scheduling, shift coverage, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Provide real-time coaching and feedback, handling minor performance issues before escalation to GM.
2. Operational Excellence & Financial Oversight
- Oversee taproom operations during assigned shifts, ensuring efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Assist in managing labor costs, inventory, and pour costs to meet financial targets.
- Support execution of taproom SOPs, ensuring compliance with ABC regulations, Serve Safe, and Responsible Beverage Service training.
- Help manage weekly/monthly inventory (beer, merchandise, glassware, etc.).
- Ensure opening and closing duties, cash handling, and POS transactions are executed properly.
3. Guest Experience & Community Engagement
- Lead by example in delivering outstanding guest service and resolving customer concerns.
- Train staff to be brand ambassadors, sharing Calicraft’s story and product knowledge with guests.
- Support GM in planning and executing events, promotions, and community partnerships.
- Monitor guest feedback and implement service improvements as needed.
4. Facility & Maintenance Management
- Ensure the taproom is clean, organized, and well-maintained at all times.
- Assist in managing vendor relationships (linen, pest control, safety services, etc.).
- Troubleshoot minor facility issues and coordinate repairs with GM.
5. Events, Marketing & Brand Representation
- Assist in executing marketing initiatives, including signage, social media promotions, and special events.
- Support private events by managing logistics, reservations, and event execution.
- Collaborate with GM to develop and implement innovative programming to drive traffic and engagement.
6. Food Program & Vendor Coordination
- Support GM in managing food vendor relationships and ensuring high-quality offerings.
- Ensure smooth coordination between taproom staff and food vendors.

- RBS Certification and Food Safety Certification Required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
- Use of hand carts and keg lifters to move full and empty kegs.
- Prolonged periods of standing and working on a computer.
Work Environment
- Taproom setting attached to a production facility and full kitchen.
- Open office environment across departments.
- Evening and weekend shifts required on a rotating schedule.
Compensation & Benefits
- Non-Exempt Role, Hourly Range: $22-25 per hour
- Schedule: 5 days a week on-site, including holidays, evenings, and weekends.
