Calidi Biotherapeutics is a clinical-stage immuno-oncology company with proprietary technology that is revolutionizing the utilization of oncolytic viruses through an allogeneic cell-based delivery system. Calidi Biotherapeutics is advancing this potent stem cell and oncolytic virus combination for use in multiple difficult-to-treat oncology indications. Our team is also developing a universal cell delivery system to protect, amplify and potentiate oncolytic viruses currently in development.

Job Overview / Summary :

The Research Associate III / Laboratory Manager will hold a dual role of in vitro work and lab management. Research Associate duties will support collaborative research and development projects by making detailed observations, analyzing data, and interpreting results. Develops new methods and technologies to advance projects. Laboratory Manager duties includes evaluation needs to optimize laboratory operations, including managing new equipment acquisitions, inventory, plans, implements, and liaises with EHS activities, coordinating and supporting new employee onboarding etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Assist with general cell culture for production of oncolytic viruses including herpes simplex virus, vaccinia virus, and / or adenovirus in tissue culture.
• Generation of new therapeutic recombinant viruses. Isolation of protein, DNA, and RNA from cell cultures and tissues.
• Maintenance of primary and established culture cell lines :
• Competent in proper pipetting techniques and experience in serial dilutions, dilution factors, and calculation of final dilutions.
• Manage inventory and purchasing of laboratory supplies and reagents, working with cross-functional groups to reconcile orders, invoices, and receipt confirmations
• Coordinate with vendors regarding equipment maintenance schedules and confirm rapid equipment repairs as needed.
• Coordinate equipment services including calibration, maintenance, service contract renewal, software and hardware upgrades and validation / qualification activities for existing equipment
• Maintain equipment database information including equipment induction, moves, or decommissioning
• Initiate and maintain training documents for equipment, hazardous waste management, and laboratory safety.
• Monitor various laboratory equipment including freezers, refrigerators and incubators.
• Basic understanding of the scientific method and scientific notation.
• Ability to analyze and organize data with strong attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and project management skills.
• Both effective team player and strong individual contributor, flexible, and able to handle multiple tasks and deliver high quality results under tight timelines.
