Position: Superintendent (Northern AZ/Flagstaff) SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION
Reports To: Director of Field Operations
Status: Exempt
JOB SUMMARY:
The Superintendent is responsible for profitable field operations on projects ranging in size from small to medium, including complex projects with minimal oversight. This role will establish the safety culture on the jobsite and work closely with the Project Management team to manage the schedule, budget, and staff to achieve profitable outcomes for each assigned project.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Schedules subcontractors, consultants, and vendors in the critical path to ensure timely completion and adherence to the specifications of each project
- Manages and maintains project safety in accordance with Caliente Construction’s Safety Policy and Procedure Manual; Implements and enforces safety protocols and regulations, conducting regular site inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards or risks
- Reviews specifications and drawings of plan procedures for constructing the project and understands staffing requirements for each phase of construction
- Assists with the creation and maintenance of the overall project schedule; Prepares three or six-week look-ahead schedules and reviews with subcontractors and project stakeholders throughout the duration of each assigned project
- Procures and schedules delivery of necessary equipment and materials to conform to work schedules
- Monitors job costing, quality of work performed, quantity reporting, forecasting and productivity. Documents all delays, back charges, and other pertinent information related to the project to maximize profitability
- Initiates changes to keep the project on schedule and informs the assigned Project Manager of any conditions that may affect the scheduled delivery dates for materials
- Communicates effectively with all project stakeholders, including clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to provide project updates, to address concerns, and ensure smooth project progression
- Creates plans for self-performed work and manages self-performed resources, materials and equipment
- Ensures all required paperwork, including, but not limited to, daily logs, diaries, communication records, phone conversations, timecards are complete, accurate, and filed in a timely manner utilizing the proper Company-approved standards
- Performs job progress and completion punch list identification and completion
- Identifies and resolves problems and conflicts, organizes meetings and cooperating with team members in various roles as necessary
- Maintains and enhances a professional working relationship with all project stakeholders while maximizing revenue and profitability goals
- Mentors junior team members in all aspects of assigned projects and construction best-known methods (BKM)
- Other duties, as assigned
FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

- High-school diploma or equivalent is desired. Industry related college degree is preferred with at least four (4) years of job-specific superintendent experience or comparable construction experience.
- OSHA-30 Certification required, and other industry-specific certifications are highly desired
- Intermediate understanding of various software applications (MS Office/Bluebeam/Procore/Vista/Powerproject, other)
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret construction documents with intermediate knowledge of construction methods and materials
- Basic knowledge of building codes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented, efficient, and reliable
- Team player with the ability to recognize how individual actions affect the team as a whole
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, flexible and adaptable to changes to planned tasks or schedule
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work 40 hours per week or more, as required to meet project schedule
- Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted
- May require repetitive use of arms, hands, and, fingers
- May require prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing throughout workday
- Willing to travel to various job site and/or employee recruitment and work locations
- Valid driver license and proof of insurability required when job duties require use of motor vehicle
- Requires exercising discretion in decision making and maintaining strict confidentiality with respect to applicant, employee, and, Company proprietary information.
