Filler Operator, 1st Shift

Overview

The Filler Operator is responsible for managing all aspects of pasteurization, including operating continuous flow or vat-type equipment to process almond milk and juice following specified methods and formulas. The role involves handling processing equipment while adhering to company, federal, and state standards for quality, productivity, OSHA, and safety. The Filler Operator is also responsible for ensuring proper cleaning and sanitation of the filler and pasteurizer room, including washing the inside of tanks and filling tanks and silos.

Responsibilities

• Ensure fillers are supplied with high-quality products in the correct scheduled order.
• Conduct daily verification checks for Critical Control Points (CCP), including temperature, hold times (cut-in and cut-out), indicator checks, magnet checks, and screen checks.
• Take immediate corrective actions to address food safety issues and report concerns to the supervisor and Quality Manager.
• Complete and maintain daily logs, such as CIP records, pasteurization records, and wheel charts.
• Monitor and optimize line efficiency as well as product yield.
• Verify that all equipment in the filler room is set up according to specifications and fully operational.
• Ensure chemical concentrations meet the required specifications.
• Adhere to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines and maintain PPE in good condition.
• Perform line setup, startup, operations, clearance, opening, closing, and changeover as needed.
• Maintain product quality throughout the production process.
• Carry out cleaning and sanitation of equipment as necessary.
• Make equipment adjustments when required to maintain optimal performance.
• Accurately complete and manage all production records.
• Report issues or concerns promptly to the department lead.
• Maintain adequate housekeeping during the shift to ensure an organized and clean workspace.
• Oversee operations from bottle rinsing to the outfeed conveyor leading to packaging.
• Keep thorough and accurate records of all activities.
• Communicate effectively with the Quality team and Plant Management regarding any issues.
• Support the Shift Lead and Supervisor as assigned.
• Operate the plant efficiently and safely in compliance with all guidelines.
• Follow and monitor GMP, HACCP, Food Safety, SOPs, and the Injury & Illness Prevention Program.
• Foster and maintain professional relationships with supervisors, leads, employees, and management.
• Assist with preventative maintenance (PM) tasks, including valve rebuilds and gasket replacements.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in the beverage processing industry.
• Physical ability to stand, kneel, bend, climb stairs and ladders, and lift or move items up to 75 pounds.
• Strong time management skills with the ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Proficiency in basic arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division across all units of measure.
• Capability to follow and communicate directions accurately and thoroughly.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, with a primary shift assigned.
• Fluency in speaking, writing, and reading English is required; Spanish proficiency is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft programs and experience with the Redzone application.

This position is classified as Non-Exempt (eligible for overtime). The expected hourly rate for this position is between $21.00 – $26.00 per year based on a full-time schedule. Location, confirmed job-related skills and experience will be considered in setting the actual hourly rate.

Salary : $21 - $26
