Processes entry level accounting duties including examination, analysis, maintenance, reconciliation and verification of student account finances, other financial records, and performs related work as required. Learns to apply the principles of accounting within an assigned area of accounting or group of funds by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Other duties may be assigned.
  • Learns to initiate and process journal entries into various accounts.
  • Assist with reconciliation of Federal, State, and Private Grants.
  • Provides customer service and support to internal departments related to various accounting inquiries.
  • Assist with reconciliation of various Athletic accounts in relation with the audit.
  • Reconcile Cost of Goods Sold from bookstore.
  • Maintain Prepaid Insurance Schedule.
  • Monthly and year-end reconciliation for various General Ledger accounts.
  • Participates in cross-training activities to assure office work coverage.
  • Assists with the preparation of annual and interim audit for all companies.
  • Assist in special projects as directed by the Director and/or Associate Director of Accounting.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position could be responsible for assigning work and/or giving direction to part-time Student Workers, in order to complete work assignments

  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff and student body.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns.
  • Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit; and requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard or other office equipment. Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers; and speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate in person or over the phone. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment, with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in Accounting or related field; and one to two years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
