BCTP PROGRAM ASSISTANT – Year-round Eureka, CA
This position plays a vital role in the operation of the BCTP. You will be involved in almost every aspect of the program. It will not only allow us to continue administering a high-quality program, but it is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable, hands-on experience with all that is required to put together a BCTP season year after year. The experience you will gain will also help prepare anyone who is contemplating being a Backcountry Trails Camp Supervisor in the future as you’ll work firsthand with each year’s group of supervisors.
Our ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Strong written communication skills—there will be writing/typing of reports, emails, recruitment materials, etc. So, must have solid grammar skills.
- Strong oral communication skills---you’ll frequently be communicating with BCTP staff, sponsors, CCC staff, other corps and organizations, BC Supervisors, BC corpsmembers, etc. both in person and over the phone. There will be a good amount of public speaking involved too.
- Organizational skills—this position will oversee/manage BCTP’s supplies, gear, equip. inventories, vehicle fleet, program documents and files, etc. So, we must have someone who is organized and can prioritize and multi-task.
- Computer skills—typing, using all Microsoft Office programs (e.g. PowerPoint, Word, Excel), photo/video editing software, Adobe, etc. There will be lots of data entry involved.
- People skills—you’ll be building relationships with many folks.
- Driving—CA Class C CDL with passenger van endorsement. You do not need to have this to apply and be considered. We will discuss further.
- Wilderness navigation—there will be some crew visits involved so folks will need to be able to safely travel, live, and work in the wilderness.
- Trail work knowledge—Opportunity to go out and visit crews.
- Leadership abilities—make no mistake, this is a leadership position!

- Independent, can work with little direction or supervision.
Position Information:
- Start Date— April 1st, the position will be open until filled.
- Pay--$19.00/hr.

- Work schedule will vary throughout the year. Primarily 40 hrs. a week.
Trinity Alps Logistical Assistant – Seasonal- April to October with a chance to extend, working in the Trinity Alps
The position would primarily involve managing the acquiring, transportation, care and delivery of supplies to the Trinity Alps CCC Backcountry Crew for the 2025 season. We need someone who is hard-working, multi-talented, independent, and adaptable to changing circumstances.
This position will play an essential role in the operation of the Trinity Alps Crew. You will be involved in the vital behind-the-scenes work that is required for a backcountry crew to be truly successful. This experience will prepare anyone considering a career in packing, logistical support, or simply wanting to work in relation to a backcountry setting.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills, knowledge, and experience:
- Strong written communication skills—there will be writing/typing of reports, emails, inventory sheets etc. So, must have solid grammar skills.
- Strong oral communication skills---you’ll frequently be communicating with BCTP staff, sponsors, BC Supervisors and BC corpsmembers, etc. both in person and over the phone. There will be some public speaking too.
- Organizational skills—this position will oversee the supplying and needs of the 2024 Trinity Alps Crew. You will also have to manage inventories, vehicles, program documents and files, etc. So, we must have someone who is organized and can prioritize and multi-task.
- Computer skills—typing, using all Microsoft Office programs (e.g. PowerPoint, Word, Excel). There will be lots of data entry involved.
- People skills—you’ll be building relationships with many folks.
- Driving—A valid driver’s license, this position will require the transportation of supplies from a variety of locations and operation of a vehicle is a must.
- Wilderness navigation—there may be some crew visits involved so folks will need to be able to safely travel, live, and work in the wilderness.
- Trail work knowledge—there may be a chance you’ll be working with crews and sponsors.
- Leadership abilities—make no mistake, this is a leadership position! You’ll be navigating a variety of unique situations and be responsible for vital operations that will positively impact the 2024 season!
