Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Lead and perform network engineering efforts in the hardware, software, and virtual infrastructure domain.
- Coordinate engineering projects, including performing technical risk assessment, de-conflicting implementations, and resolving technical questions and conflicts.
- Gather performance and utilization metrics from infrastructure components and proactively inform the Sponsor when thresholds are met.
- Perform moderately complex network designs using existing technology with limited guidance.
- Plan network configurations for integration into the network, using knowledge of the performance characteristics of the systems being added to the network and the specifications for network interfaces to ensure effective integration and optimal network performance.
- Prepare technical proposals for presentation to the engineering review boards to make changes or add new technologies to the network.
- Perform moderately complex Operations and Maintenance (O&M) activities with limited guidance.
- Utilize network analysis tools to identify performance problems in the network.
- Diagnose network issues and follow troubleshooting procedures for restoring the network to optimal performance levels.
- Perform routine to moderately complex network upgrades with limited guidance.
- Review user requests for upgrades or additions to the network to assess the impact on network performance.
- Provide advice and guidance on the most practical technical approach to meeting user requirements.
- Deploy and maintain network systems.
- Maintain up-to-date network topology drawings.
- Support network life cycle stages such as design, configure, test, deploy, and maintain.
- Operate and maintain the Sponsor's globally dispersed data transport networks.
- Build and deploy virtual and physical Windows servers.
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows operating systems on physical and virtual servers.
- Deploy patches to Windows systems that adhere to the Sponsor's security posture.
- Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support to operate, maintain, and engineer all Sponsor-managed networks.
- Provide support for account management and identity management to maintain operational readiness and adhere to the Sponsor's security posture.
Required Experience:
- Demonstrated experience working with TCP/IP protocol suite, IP subnets and masking, and routing protocols.
- Demonstrated experience working in Local Area Network (LAN) environments.
- Demonstrated experience working in Wide Area Network (WAN) environments.
- Demonstrated experience designing, configuring, and troubleshooting Routing and Switching systems, such as Cisco.
- Demonstrated experience with Routing Protocols, including OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP.
- Demonstrated experience with Gateway Redundancy Protocols, including HSRP and VRRP.
- Demonstrated experience implementing L2 and L3 VPN across an MPLS network.
- Demonstrated experience with network security, such as firewalls and ACLs.
- Demonstrated experience creating network topology diagrams.
- Demonstrated experience with network IP address management.
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining Windows servers.
- Demonstrated experience building, deploying, and maintaining virtual servers using VMware.
- Demonstrated experience using Active Directory suite of tools to manage computer objects, security groups, and access.
- Demonstrated experience using Windows Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Domain Name Services (DNS), and Site management.
- Demonstrated experience using Active Directory Sites and Services to configure subnets using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) to install software on servers and workstations and for troubleshooting software and patch failures.
- Demonstrated experience deploying and managing McAfee EPO, McAfee Antivirus, and McAfee Drive Encryption (MDE) products across a geographically dispersed enterprise network.
- Demonstrated experience deploying, operating, and maintaining data transfer tools such as Aspera.
- Demonstrated experience deploying and maintaining Microsoft Endpoint Manager.
- Demonstrated experience using Active Directory Replication & Topology Management.
Highly Desired but Not Required Experience:
- Demonstrated experience explaining protocols, technical procedures, and processes clearly and accurately to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated experience with Software-Defined Networking technologies, such as Cisco ACI and VMware NSX-T.
- Demonstrated experience with load balancing technologies, such as F5 BIG-IP and Citrix Netscaler.
Certifications:
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
- Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
- Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Practitioner
- Microsoft Certified Solutions Administrator (MCSA)
