General Summary
We are seeking an experienced Cloud Architect to join our IT Infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in cloud computing, with a strong focus on designing, implementing, and managing cloud infrastructure. As a Cloud Architect, you will play a critical role in shaping our cloud strategy, ensuring the scalability, security, and efficiency of our cloud-based systems.
Principal Accountabilities (95%)
- Develops a backlog of improvement initiatives, designed to meet business and stakeholder needs, and delivers in an agile and time-boxed way.
- Design and implement cloud architecture solutions that meet our business and technical requirements.
- Develop and maintain cloud infrastructure using platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Offers practical guidance and best practices to leverage new or emerging opportunities, ensuring the successful delivery of anticipated business outcomes.
- Ensure the security, compliance, and governance of cloud environments.
- Monitor and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define cloud strategies and roadmaps.
- Optimize cloud resources for cost-efficiency and performance.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to IT staff on cloud best practices.
- Stay up to date with the latest cloud technologies and trends to drive continuous improvement.
Secondary Accountabilities (5%)
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with BSA requirements as commensurate with position.
Position Requirement and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Demonstrated experience as a Cloud Architect or in a similar role, preferably within a financial institution or related industry. In some cases, extensive relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and cloud-native technologies.
- Knowledge of cloud network and security principles, with a proven ability to design secure, scalable, and efficient cloud architecture solutions.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Excellent understanding of security best practices and compliance standards (e.g., PCI-DSS, CCPA).
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert).
- Experience with DevOps practices, Scaled Agile, and tools (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, Git).
- Experience with hybrid cloud environments and multi-cloud strategies.
- Experience in the financial services industry, particularly within credit unions or banks.
