Job Purpose

As an advisor/liaison to sponsoring association members, the Risk Management Analyst provides risk management support, services, literature, resources and products. Performs analysis of internal and industry risk management and claims data to identify risk trends and develop products and services to (favorably) impact loss exposure. The primary role of the advisor/liaison is to handle risk management calls from sponsoring association members; collaborate with organizational business units in the creation and ongoing development of programs and services to support association members in identification and mitigation of risk profile; educate members of TDIC's sponsoring associations about how to identify and protect their liability exposures.

Essential Functions – must be able to perform with or without a reasonable accommodation

  • Advisor/liaison for risk management calls from TDIC sponsoring association members in accordance with the codes of ethics, dental practice acts (by state), regulatory issues and loss prevention protocol. Averaging more than 300 calls per month.

 

  • Researches risk management issues involving analysis of claims data, industry trends, regulatory, statutory and legal developments, researches and follows-up with dentists, appropriate departments and other resources.

 

  • Collaborates with team to identify article topics for addressing risk management issues for dental publications, technical bulletins and articles for component publications based on loss trends as determined through member contact and claims analysis.

 

  • As part of a team, researches and develops self-study courses and seminars, presentations, products and services specific to identified coverage needs (EPLI, Property, PL, Workers Compensation) and risk trends. Presents risk management seminars to members of sponsoring dental associations, dental students, and others to educate them in loss prevention.

 

  • Participates in Risk Assist Program to provide targeted risk management assistance, advice and counsel.  Collaborates with team members to identify appropriate program candidates and develop a personalized plan to address identified issues.

Required Education, Licenses & Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ risk management experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of insurance, dentistry, and/or healthcare risk management
  • Ability to effectively provide live presentations and respond to questions from clients and customers.
  • Demonstrated technical writing skills.
  • Must be able to work well independently and within a team environment.
  • Critical thinking skills: applies analysis, creativity, and logic to reach optimal outcomes.
  • Communication skills: approachable, open to feedback, uses trust to build relationships; can incite action to achieve strategic goals and desired outcomes.
  • Relationship skills: participates as an active, contributive and supportive member of a team to achieve shared goals.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Proficient computer skills, including, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

 

Preferred Education, Licenses & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field recommended or equivalent experience.
  • Front and/or back dental office experience.
  • RDA or RDH license

 

Working Conditions  

 

  • Constantly on the phones providing advice to our members
  • Frequently maintains a stationary position
  • Occasionally moves around the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Required occasional overnight travel several times annually at organizational events.
  • Constantly standing and walking when attending organizational events.
  • May be asked to carry items weighted less than 50lbs
