AVID tutors are actively enrolled undergraduate and graduate college students who mentor and tutor middle school students to help prepare them for college success. Under the general supervision of the AVID coordinator and the immediate supervision of the AVID elective teacher, AVID Tutors assist students in academic subjects in order to develop habits of mind and higher standards of academic achievement which will increase students postsecondary educational options upon high school graduation. AVID Tutors are are trained in the use of AVID strategies to enhance academic performance of targeted middle school students and serve as role models and mentors. This is a part time, non-classified position without benefits. Hours for this position vary depending on site needs (average of 15 hours/ week). You will not need to reapply for subsequent school years. You will only need to show your new course transcripts. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: The successful candidate must subscribe to an Oath of Allegiance, submit to a general tuberculosis examination/ physical, be fingerprinted, and show proof of their identity and right to work in the United States as conditions of employment.
