Requirements / Qualifications
One (1) year of library experience, including clerical and typing responsibilities. High school diploma or equivalent; Associates Degree or equivalent (CODESP) or 48 college units.
Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Principal, to perform general duties in the operation of an elementary or high school library; and to do related work as required. The Classified Library Clerk is the supervisor of the library and is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the school library. Student-related duties include receiving students individually or by class groups for checking out and returning books, assisting students with locating materials and using reference sources, and assisting students in the use of the card catalog. At the elementary level, conducts story hours for the primary students to introduce them to books and literature, maintains discipline and order among students using the library, and assists students in the use of the computer / computer software.
